Meet Paul Jervey | Financial Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Jervey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
God and his word the Bible. There are some many secrets to success that God placed in his word. I have been fortunate enough that he placed people in my life and/or people i have been exposed that have been able to break it down practically so that i could apply to my Marriage, my parenting, my business, my clients, and my leadership. I am not a Pastor by any means but these bibilcial truths have worked for me. That’s why when it was time to start my business God told me to call it Genesis. Thus Jervey Genesis Solutions, LLC was born. We provide creative and tranformative financial planning solutions to our clients no matter what season of life they are in.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a financial planner. I started in the industry in 2008 as an insurance agent and my journey was not easy by any means it took me 10 years to get to where it was enjoyable. For a 20 year old African American man in the financial services profession it wasn’t easy to sit down in front of people to talk about their money and then for them to accept recommendations from you on how they should address their money and or their insurance needs at the time. I gave up a job at a bank called ING Direct, where I was an executive intern for the last four years with a salary of $45,000 a year. I made the decision to get into the industry because of a professor told me he was in the business, showed me what he made, and said Paul I would rather do level 10 work, and get level 10 pay instead of work for someone and give level 10 work and get level 1 pay. So from there, I decided to pursue this dream of being a financial professional. I was enamored with the income potential and the freedom and flexibility that it provided and I didn’t like having an overseer or a boss. I work for New York Life Insurance Company for 3years, and Securian Financial Group for 3years. Both told me I shouldn’t be in the business. My third and last stop was going to be Edward Jones. When I joined that company, my business took off. Partly because I just gotten married, and we started tithing at church. I left there in 2018 to Start Genesis. When I left, 85% of my client base followed me and became the foundation of what Genesis is today. It was a long road. There were a lot of failures. I’ve been a broke financial advisor and I am proud to say those days are long behind me. In order to go up you have to go down first, and that’s what happened to me. I overcame those challenges by growing my skill set, practicing my presentations, practicing my speaking ability, trusting God, believing in him, praying, confessing over my life and business. Diligence & persistence were the keys to my success. What makes Jervey Genesis Solutions different from other financial planning firms is our 3D process, our E4 solutions suite, our FIT Assessment (Financial Independence Tracker) and the diligence we demonstrate in getting our family/clients to their financial goals. We exist to provide creative financial planning solutions to our clients no matter what season of life they are in. We believe there is a solution to every financial problem, challenge or frustration, and we will find it and/or create it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! My wife Nikkita deserve so much because she continues to push and challenge me. So much of the Genesi brand is her. My grandfather Paul Henry who passed in 2018 deserves flowers as well. It is because of him, I am who i am. Next would be my mother and father who always instilled in me that i would be and do something great. Lastly, are my 3 kids: Eriana, Victoria, and Isaac. Everything i do is for them and their children so that they get a better start at this thing called life than my wife and I did.
