We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Adebajo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, why did you pursue a creative career?
The memories and moments we hold so close to our hearts are reminiscent of the emotions we often wish we could feel in present time. As we age, we experience memory reconsolidation, which makes recalling memories slightly different each time, giving them the identity of being reconstructed rather than simply replayed. Being able to capture and relive those emotions through a medium that preserves the integrity of allowing them to be replayed—is something I deeply enjoy. Some may do it for the money, but I do it for the craft.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to view my art as a medium that captures memories and moments that hold deep emotional value—ones that often reflect the feelings we wish we could relive in the present. Since memories change each time we recall them, I strive to preserve emotions through a medium that retains their integrity, allowing them to be replayed rather than giving them an identity of being reconstructed. Some may do it for the money, but for me, it’s about the craft.

If a journey was easy, could you still recognize it as a journey? There are tons of adversities that I’ve experienced very early in this profession. For you to understand where I’m coming from, let me ask you this:

If you were to experience the separation of a loved one and someone asked you “When do you think you’ll feel better—a week, two weeks—how would you respond? Maybe with ‘I don’t know’ or ‘There’s no estimated timeline for my emotions.’ You feel what you feel, and as time passes, you either begin to feel better, or nothing changes at all. What I’ve learned is that the unfortunate truth is that sometimes, you never know when it’s time to let go. But if you love what you’re doing enough, you won’t look for a reason to give up—that’s what separates you from those with different motives.

I want the world to know that I strive to ground my art in truth and create in a manner that is preservative.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve always recognized my friends, family, and local film community as the driving factor for me wanting to try something new and operate on a level that is higher than the level that I am currently operating on. Witnessing their growth only inspires me to grow myself, showing me that storytelling is not a career path that can only pay the bills but a path that you can share a laugh with in the midst of adversity.
