We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Mgbemena and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrick, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks has played a large role in where I am today. I can’t say that I am one who takes dangerous, unthought out risks. However, I always bet on myself and pursue exactly what fulfills me. One thing that I have learned in life from observing others is that, you can also fail at pursuing other people’s dreams for you. And while there is no guarantee that you will be successful in chasing your dreams, there is a guarantee that one day, years from now, you will definitely look back, filled with some regret and wondering of “what if” because of the chances you did not take.Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an A&R and Marketing Manager at StreamCut, an Independent Distribution Company based in Atlanta, Ga. In addition to that, I manage artists and influencers. I began my career in the entertainment industry a little over two years ago and it was not an easy industry to break into at all. It definitely came with its various challenges, and still comes with its challenges, as I have not even reached anywhere near the peak of my goals. Nevertheless, the main thing that I have learned along the way is that persistence and preparation is key. You have to constantly be working in whatever capacity you can to craft the skills to effectively do whatever job it is that you are pursuing. Then, you have to also add in consistent persistence in reaching out to people, networking, and trying to be in spaces where the people who are in the position you would like to be in are at. That way, when the opportunity does finally present itself, not only are you ready and well qualified, you will be able to overdeliver and grow in that space at a rapid speed.Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is honestly an amazing city with so much to do and check out. If a friend was coming into town, I would definitely take them to a wing spot, preferably American Deli or JJ’s. As far as hanging out, the nightlife in Atlanta is great, so there’s so many different clubs and lounges that you could go to if you wanted. For me, I’m more chill and just like to hang out, so I’d probably take them to like Top Golf or something like that. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to Shoutout my brothers, because without them being present for me to learn from not only their advice, but their actions as well, I don’t think that I would have been able to get to where I am today. In addition to that, the time and effort they put in assisting me in my various different career paths, afforded me opportunities to be able to do certain things that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do. Furthermore, their constant encouragement of my aspirations, reinforced in me the confidence to continue on my journey.
