We had the good fortune of connecting with Parker Lewiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Parker, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Being authentic! Staying true to myself has kept me from making bad mistakes, both in business and in life. The success of my brand/music is based on me being me and being transparent. It may take time, but people tend to gravitate towards something or someone if it’s genuine.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What a journey! From performing on stage with NOBODY in the audience, to being in a studio full of industry execs going ham to my music! I’ve seen it all! I remember having to learn how to make beats on my own back in 2004 because my oldest child was about to be born and I couldn’t afford to buy them anymore. I remember moving to California in 2007, crashing with friends wondering where my next dollar was coming from. I remember the first time one of my songs, “Sigueme”, went viral in 2017 and the validation I felt for the first time professionally. The journey itself has been extremely turbulent. Without my faith in myself and my abilities I’d be nowhere near where I am today. Perseverance is the most important quality to have in this industry. If you grind for it and you don’t succeed, that just means grind harder! IT WILL COME!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ah man…lol Where do I start? Long Beach, CA!!! Our first order of business is to hit up Long Beach Chronic and place an order lol. After that, we definitely have to hit up Louisiana Charlie’s on the Pike in Downtown LBC for some of the best BBQ/Cajun food you’ll ever have in your life!!! At night Pine Ave is mandatory! You gotta stop at Shannon’s for a drink! There’s Agave’s, Sevilla’s, and my favorite spot JP23 if you wanna listen to a dope dj and enjoy the vibes! We got the aquarium, there’s Shades Of Africa if you need your culture fix. The beaches are dope and the people cool af! I love Long Beach, can u tell? lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all the women in my life that helped mold me into the man I am today; my mom Annabelle, my aunt Janet, and my grandma Lynette who are all no longer here. All of my male cousins and uncles were out running the streets. Those 3 women showed me an alternative! They told me that it was ok to be smart, ok to not be like everyone else, ok to want more out of life than what was outside my door! I’ll never be able to pay those women back for all the life lessons and love that they gave me!
