We had the good fortune of connecting with Papi Curt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Papi, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
The end goal for me is to open doors, windows and any other outlets that’ll put people into position to better themselves. I guess I realize it’s not so much the amount of millionaires and billionaires in the world, but how many are actually willing to help. I want to give back and give people opportunities to reach new heights in life because I don’t believe majority of people who break the law for money are doing it because it preferred. It’s probably all they know and they doing what they have to do to feed their families, so you know, I get it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music has energy. Uplifting energy. I want you to feel good, accomplished, motivated and driven by my songs. However in the same breath, I have records for the more mellow times, ambience and I eventually want to make full R&B records soon. Nothing about creating is easy, yeah…? Because you walk in the studio and meet different melodies that make you want to think outside the box and wanna give people something interesting to listen to. I know it’s been a few Don Toliver songs where I’m barely listening to the lyrics, but more the melodies and instrumentation. I just want the world to be able to relate to my music in a way that sort of forms its own community where everyone belongs, no matter what.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were to go on a week long trip, it would definitely be a cruise. So, we road trip it to Florida, dock the boat, all you can eat buffet throughout the week, maybe visit a few of the clubs and play my songs in the middle of the ocean. I think Japan has some of the most interesting people. They love little things and the neon glow of the city is attractive. Very strong gravitational pull.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God deserves all of the credit. I wouldn’t be here taking the steps I’m taking and making the moves I’m making without God in my life. God dealt me an interesting hand. Not gonna lie, it’s special.
