Meet Pamela Williams | Licensed Interior Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Mainly, I wanted to have the freedom to choose which projects best aligned with my purpose and create a school of thought that focuses on connecting our interior environments to our mental health and overall wellbeing. Shelter is one of the key essentials for healthy life and if we spend, on average, 90% of our time indoors, why not make those spaces beautiful, functional and a reflection of us?
By the time I started my business, I had already spent ten years as a financial analyst, four years as an interior design student, and three years as a wedding and event planner, which all helped me to develop a strong creative, strategic mindset. However, I’ve always known my true passion was in transforming spaces to enhance how people feel and function within them. Launching my own firm allows me to approach design through my unique lens—blending evidence-based principles with my authentic perspective to solve client challenges in a meaningful way. It isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about creating environments that inspire, restore, and elevate daily life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pamela Williams Interior Design (PWID) is a residential and commercial design studio dedicated to creating transformative spaces that enhance well-being, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. What sets us apart is our holistic approach—rooted in evidence-based design, color psychology, biophilic principles, and strategic lighting—to craft environments that not only look stunning but also support productivity, relaxation, and emotional wellness. Our motto, “Inner design through interior design®️,” reflects our belief that the spaces we inhabit directly impact how we feel, function, and thrive.
Getting to where we are today has been anything but easy; however, it has been a joyful journey. Scaling the business and gaining industry recognition requires persistence, strategic networking, and a willingness to evolve. One of the biggest challenges up to this point has been shifting from a finance career into the design world while building a client base from the ground up. I overcame many obstacles by leveraging my analytical background, staying invested in industry trends, and ensuring every project exceeded expectations. One of the achievements I’m most proud of is our recent milestone, winning the ‘Best in Show’ Award for Contract Design in the 2024 Georgia Design Awards. For us, this award was a testament to our commitment to excellence in interior design.
Through this journey, I’ve learned that resilience, adaptability, and authenticity are the cornerstones of a successful business. Every challenge presents an opportunity for growth, and I embrace each project as a chance to refine my craft and elevate my clients’ experiences.
Ultimately, PWID is more than just a design firm—it’s a movement dedicated to shaping environments that empower, heal, and inspire. Whether working with busy homeowners, boutique hospitality brands, or corporate spaces, my goal is to ensure that every space tells a story, enhances daily life, and aligns with the client’s unique vision.
For anyone looking to transform their space into a place of purpose and beauty, PWID is here to help make that vision a reality.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d curate the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, great food, and a little luxury—because Atlanta has so much to offer!
Day 1: Wine & Relaxation in the Georgia Mountains
We’d kick off the trip with a wine tour in the North Georgia mountains—exploring vineyards like Wolf Mountain Vineyards or heading straight to Chateau Elan for a couple of days. We’d sip on some of the region’s best wines and enjoy a gourmet dinner at Marc Restaurant.
Day 2: Spa Day at JeJu Sauna
After wine country, we’d indulge in a full self-care day at JeJu Sauna. From the hot stone rooms to the body scrubs and massages, it’s the perfect way to recharge. Afterward, we’d grab a delicious Korean hibachi and sushi meal nearby.
Day 3: Atlanta’s BeltLine & Ponce City Market
We’d start the morning by renting bikes or scooters to cruise the BeltLine, stopping for street art, skyline views, and a coffee break at Muchacho. Lunch would be at Ponce City Market, where we’d explore the food hall and do some boutique shopping.
Day 4: Nature at the Atlanta Botanical Garden
A visit to Atlanta Botanical Garden is a must—the lush landscapes, orchid house, and seasonal exhibits are always breathtaking. For dinner, we’d go to Rays on the River for an unforgettable fine dining experience or The Optimist for some of the best seafood in the city.
Day 5: A Taste of Atlanta’s Food Scene
This day would be all about food and culture. We’d start with breakfast at Thumbs Up Diner, then explore the High Museum of Art or visit The Trap Music Museum for something uniquely Atlanta. For dinner, we’d go to Busy Bee Café for classic soul food or go all out with a fine-dining experience at Negril.
Day 6: A Chill Day & Evening Vibes
After so much running around, we’d take a laid-back day—maybe shopping at The Shops at Buckhead or checking out Krog Street Market.
Day 7: A Farewell Brunch & Departure
Before heading to the airport, we’d have a final brunch at The Real Milk & Honey for their famous comfort food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person I would like to dedicate my shoutout to is Akira Collins. She has been my colleague for over 10 years and has collaborated with me in a business partner so effortlessly. I thank God for connecting us at SCAD! We’ve tried a number of different project ventures over the years and it’s amazing how we always flow and blend our background and experiences together. She is truly one of those amazing secret weapons that provides invaluable support both professionally and personally.
