We had the good fortune of connecting with Paisley Reneé and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paisley, is there something you believe many others might not?
Everyone knows the saying “Communication is key” ….. well, I disagree. Comprehension is key. You have to know what a person cares about to understand their take. You can communicate all day but if the conversation isn’t understood it won’t reach them the way it should.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my passion. To me passion makes the photographer. It always makes me work a little harder, push a little farther, and strive to be better than what I was the day before. When I meet with a client or go on different photoshoots I like to bring their vision to life through my eyes. That’s my passion, showing people what I see. I try to be as creative as I can, even if we have nothing to work with we’re going to leave that shoot with something!

I’m most proud of being able to work with a major Corporate Company (PepsiCo Gatorade) as a Contractor. The person who brought me in under her wing saw potential in me that I didn’t see in myself when I first started with my photography business. I can say that played a major role in giving me the confidence I needed to be comfortable around people to even take pictures. The projects we’ve done I never even imagined that this is what I would be doing as a photographer when I first started this journey.

I can say my support system got me to where I am today. That includes my family and friends. From me bouncing ideas off of them or using them just for my practice to better my craft. It wasn’t easy. They helped me break out of this shy shell and grow into this beautiful butterfly that now takes on every challenge that comes to me when I knew once upon a time I would have never done. If it wasn’t for them I’d probably still be working for someone else not happy living in my purpose.

Lessons I’ve learned along the way is you wont be able to please everybody you work with. It was hard for me to accept that during my first few years starting out, but what I also learned was I have to be ok with that. Not everyone is going to like what you produce and you can’t satisfy everybody.

What I want people to know about me and my story is if you have something you want to do and you strongly believe in it, DO IT. Don’t think about the ” what if’s ” DO IT. If you can benefit from it AND enjoy it, then why not?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I’m really more of a home body but the places that I have been that I’ve enjoyed are:

Sweet Water Creek – you can relax on the lake in paddle boats, have family functions there, or take a hike through the trails they have thats parallel to a rock creek that you can dip your feet in.

A few places you can step out for happy hour – 255 Tapas Lounge on Peters St. I love the vibes there especially Friday nights. For a more sophisticated type of vibe Studio Cigar Lounge is nice and they have a live jazz Wednesday nights.

The Battery is also a dope environment that I recently got a chance to experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my support system. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am now
