We had the good fortune of connecting with Ottavia Tay Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ottavia Tay, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor I believe behind the success of my brand is that I’m authentic and down to earth. I respond and interact with all of my clients as if they are my best friend. I’m successful at what I do because I test everything out on myself first. I believe in what I market because it has proven time and time again to work for me. I only promote what I believe in and I love exposing others to the magick.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is Dear Life Chat LLC. Dear Life: What can we chat about today? How to be mindfully present in life. Dear Life Chat is ran solely by me. I call myself the Mindfulness Curator because I mindfully curate experiences with the use of sound therapy, mindfulness coaching, reiki and tarot. I’m mostly self-taught but I am also a certified holistic sound therapist where I use crystal and Tibetan Singing bowls to create a therapeutic sound healing experience. What sets me apart is my personality and natural gifts. By day I am a writer and teacher so naturally coaching and teaching is a skill of mine. Mix it up with reiki energy healing, singing bowls and my tarot cards to create the entire experience with Dear Life Chat. I got to where I am today by failing several times. I started playing for tips on the Atlanta Beltline. I had an audience of just 5 people. That’s all I needed to keep going. Nothing in life comes easy. The hardest part is to start and then keep going. There have been many lessons I’ve learned along the way. But nothing compares to knowing that I was molded for this life with the DNA that I carry. Live a life that your ancestors could only dream of. I want the world to know gratitude and love are essential for any business, any career, any relationship, any partnership. Gratitude and Love go together like peanut butter and jelly or grits and salt!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When coming to Atlanta there are a few neighborhoods you need to check out. But most importantly shop with black-owned businesses. Little 5 Points – to shop, eat and people watch. Can’t forget all of the beautiful graffiti. L5P is every artist’s dream location. Atlanta Beltline – walk the Atlanta Beltline or ride a bike or scooter. Breathe the fresh air. See beautiful sights of the city. Learn how to skateboard at the O4W skateboard Park. Walk to Ponce City Market to eat and shop. Finish off with a picnic at Piedmont Park. Nature – Atlanta outside of the perimeter has the most amazing lakes, rivers, mountains, trails. Anywhere north, South, east or west of the city will take your breath away.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have three important giants in my life. And one guardian angel. The first 2 are my sons Zion and Zorian. Everything I do is because of them. They’ve taught me to never give up because they’re the only audience I need to keep going. My 3rd person is my BFF Akeem. He is the other whole of my soul and brain. He reminds me of the importance of “signs” and that nothing in life is a coincidence. My guardian angel and star ancestor is my grandmother, Mama Doll. She taught me that even transition, energy never dies. It burns within. Keep spreading the light Tay Tay.
