We had the good fortune of connecting with OnceHeard K and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi OnceHeard, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career in piano and composition because music has always been my language—the way I express what words often can’t. From about 5 years ago at the age of 10 I felt deeply connected to the piano; it became not just an instrument, but a part of who I am. Creating music allows me to explore emotions, tell stories, and connect with others on a soul-deep level. Composition gives me the freedom to shape sound into something meaningful and personal, and performing brings those creations to life. Choosing this path wasn’t just a decision—it was a calling I couldn’t ignore.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is rooted in emotion and storytelling through piano and composition. What sets me apart is my ability to blend classical technique with personal expression to create pieces that truly connect with listeners. I’m most proud of staying true to my voice while growing as a musician. The journey hasn’t been easy—there were doubts, setbacks, and a lot of late nights—but I learned that perseverance, passion, and authenticity always lead the way. I want the world to know that my music comes from a real place, and my goal is to inspire, heal, and move people through every note.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit Atlanta, I’d make sure they experienced the perfect mix of culture, food, music, and good vibes. We’d kick off with brunch at Sun in My Belly—you haven’t lived until you’ve had their lavender biscuits. Then we’d explore Ponce City Market, stroll the BeltLine, and catch a sunset view from Skyline Park.

One day would be all about art—High Museum of Art in the morning, then some funky galleries in Castleberry Hill. At night, we’d grab dinner at Busy Bee Café for some iconic soul food, followed by live music at Apache XLR or a jazz lounge in Edgewood.

Midweek, we’d head to Piedmont Park for a chill picnic or maybe a paddleboat ride, then cool off with Jeni’s Ice Cream in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood. We’d definitely take a day trip to Stone Mountain for a scenic hike, and later catch a show at the Fox Theatre—because nothing beats a night of glam in an iconic venue.
