We had the good fortune of connecting with OMG Flu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi OMG, what do you attribute your success to?
I want to immortalize myself and I focus on doing that not just through music but by branding myself in a way that the world will never forget me I wanna leave my mark on this mf, that’s why I did things like the mtv cartoon show and the mtv reality show MTV True Life “I’m addicted to weed” because I want the world to know me and be able to still look back on what I’ve done and been through even after I’m gone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m Amere also known as OMG Flu I’ve been rapping and singing since I was 6 years old , I started off singing in a choir, when the church noticed I had a very unique voice I went from jr choir to eventually singing lead in the adult mass choir, from that point on I knew I loved entertaining and doing music , I got my first record deal when I was 13 I was in a group called “Crazy Youngstars” we went on tour and achieved a lot of great milestones, like being on BET’s 106& Park with Aj & Free , and opening up for Ludacris, but the group ended up breaking up before we reached the height of our success. That drove me to go even harder knowing it was possible and knowing I have what it takes I began my career as a solo artist and continued to reach many milestones in life , I have songs that still come on the radio today such as our breakout hit OMG and White Rice I have song and video with SadaBaby, songs with ice wear vezzo ,Neishs Neshae , Djbj , and recently did a song with Trick Trick on his latest album , and many more what makes me different is my wordplay and how seasoned I am when it comes to rap I’ve been doing it since I was 6 years old also I don’t write I freestyle everything off the top off my head and I can rap about anything at any given time and it will always be fire! I’m well known in my city for that , battle rap also I’m undefeated on the Friday night cypher which is a radio show that’s live on Detroit’s number 1 hip hop radio station Hot 107.5 I was on the show consecutively for 2 years straight undefeated all freestyle , that got me a lot of my fans / and supporters also . Of course it hasn’t been easy of course things discourage me but I never lose faith or never give up , I’ve learned that consistency and self confidence are key in making it in this business, always know you’re great approach every situation with that perspective, and you’ll become that , manifest it !

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Mann I don’t hang in the city much anymore, my city is different like if you’re too well known you have to move a certain way can’t be too accessible, it’s some people that may want to do something to you just because of who you are , so I hang out outside Detroit like it’s a spot called paradise briyani I’ve been eating At lately I would take them there , pretty good Indian food and to the block to hang with the fellas smoke , chill , catch a vibe , maybe MGM casino gamble a bit do some sports betting , down to the studio of course , I don’t do strip clubs but if that’s what they’re into I know some spots where they could have fun for a decent price 🤷🏽

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Donnieboii is my brother and also a rap artist and entrepreneur he’s a Legend in our city and he’s also been very inspirational in my life
