We had the good fortune of connecting with Og Liyah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi OG, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
when i think about risk it’s slightly scary but slightly exciting because there’s also reward in taking a risk. the higher the risk the possibility of a higher reward and you have to ask yourself is it worth the reward . for example i risked spending thousands of dollars on a giveback concert but the rewards i could reap from that are worth that risk snd ultimately that helped me feel more confident in taking calculated risks , bc the reward is even better !
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like just being yourself in itself is what set me apart from others because it’s not common for people to live in their truth in its entirety especially in the music . i most proud of my growth and knowledge about music from engineering to producing too just knowing how to use my voice as an instrument it’s definitely a different feeling listening back to old songs . and just the fact that i got to a point where i have “old songs” lol . i got to where im at by trusting myself and pushing & promoting my program every room i was in . i just was always in the right place at the right time around the right people . i wouldn’t say it was easy or hard i feel like it was all a necessary experience . i’ve learned a lot along the way about all angles and aspects of creating & being in the industry & just stories and advice from people who have been doing this a long time . almost a year into making music and being an artist
i really want the world to know that it’s okay to live in your truth . it’s okay have your own morals and own standard of success and love and it’s okay to be the 1%
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
i’m truly a simple girl , but i love to just look up new spots all the time and try them they’re always making something new in ATL , escobar on peters street is my go to for a good drink some vibes !!! dj zaniyeahh is the hardest dj ever and she’s there tuesdays and thursday nights !!! i love her sets
my favorite place to get pasta honestly is 656 sports bar like i had it one time and never wanted it from anywhere else so that’s def be a spot i take u too . but a week trip with OG LI would consist of eating , smoking and going to the studio, shoots , pop up events !!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
i would like to give my biggest shoutout to God ! He plays the biggest role
in my life and he never disappoints me it’s always a learning experience so i thank God for allowing me to go through certain things it made me who i am now . Also wanna give. shout out to my mom & major & my friends !! my sand box babies !!!! my support team is huge and they are warriors fr !! between the military and being a nail technician and being an artist now my friends and family have supported me thru every career change so i owe it all to them !
