We had the good fortune of connecting with Official Meme O and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Official, how do you think about risk?
The way I think about risk, is like taking a leap of faith. To elaborate, I am divinely covered so my steps are already ordered. Taking risks has played a MAJOR role in my life simply because I never know what’s to come but I am confident enough in my decision to be able to move forward off of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My form of Artistry is Barbering. I aspired to be a Barber at a very young age. I remember like it was yesterday going to the barbershop with my dad to get his haircut, sometimes we’d go there early on Saturdays because that was just the spot to hang at lol. I would think to myself like “these guys pocketing all this money just by cutting some hair off a head? I can do that!”. It was always a great vibe every single time and I was the only girl. I automatically knew that me being a girl, I would have an advantage because what guy doesn’t want a pretty female cutting their head?! I mean really BLAZING with the clippers! Ever since I’ve been in love with the industry, the art and the relationships built behind it. It was a bit of a struggle for me when I first started out; I was a single mom trying to go to barber school while maintaining a job at the same time. I figured out a way to balance everything with the support of loved ones, I would get so overwhelmed and discouraged sometimes because I thought I’d never finish. I think what sets me apart is that although I am a girl in a male predominant industry, I love the game and I take my craft very serious. Everyday I am looking for ways to improve my services and cuts. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to never mix business with pleasure, always keep it professional I stand by this. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that, there is no limit to anything! If you’re capable and you really put the efforts towards it, you can do and become exactly who you never thought you’d be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My most fun thing to do is eat! I love a nice restaurant with a good drink on the side lol. I am a connoisseur when it comes to restaurants, even If I’ve never been I will certainly find something of my interest. I love to bar hop, and I also love nature so ideally anything that is done would all be in walking range so we’re able to enjoy the environment. The art district is one of the things I like to visit on a sunny day, especially for the music, vibes and people. Im always open to try new things so we’d certainly have to stay tuned to what’s going on during the week and follow through with our plans then.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family supports literally any and everything I do and are always willing and ready to assist! I also have life coaches that have helped in ways I don’t think anyone could ever, thank you E, Mrs. Nikki and Mrs. Covington. I have multiple people that I look at as mentors; my instructors from Barber school have played a huge role in my life and success, I am beyond thankful for them. Last but not least, my children and my circle (Small selection of friends) encourage and motivate me daily on me being the best mother and version of myself.
