We had the good fortune of connecting with Nyya Linscomb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nyya, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
The Art of Dealing with People is a book I was introduced to by a businessman and personal mentor about 10 years ago. I like it because it’s more of a reference manual, small, and the principles can be applied immediately and the results are instant. I learned how to deal with several personality types in a way they would appreciate it. Studying this book helped me to gain an even more attractive and inviting personality to affect more lives in a positive way!

What should our readers know about your business?
I have salon business that caters to the most amazing women on the entire planet! My big sister Dr. Vikki L Bush was in the beauty industry making her mark for years around the world. She is one who can recognize a talent in someone and pull it allll the way out! She trained me and taught me the most simple principle on how she was so successful. It was not only her unmatched talent, but mostly her client service skills and professionalism. It was not easy, however she didn’t give me an option to fail or be subpar, therefore I succeeded in following her footsteps in being a hairstylist, she then took me to the next level and I became a business owner also, with the biggest push from my entrepreneur mother! There were challenges along the way, but with my team of accountability partners and the inner drive of being afraid to be embarrassed by failure, I was never out of business or had to close my doors! I learned to design “work” in a way that I loved it and loved to be there. I vet my clients and build beautiful sisterships and relationships with them! So it’s like we get to have friend girl time during their visit to the salon. I’d like for at least one person that reads this to know that in the past 19 years I’ve experienced every challenge and adversity possible it seems!!! But I’m still here in business with clients I’ve had since the beginning because I built a relationship with them, They helped me through most of my life experiences and I learn from them as well! I treat them like family, we respect one another and are on purpose about helping others. People don’t care how much you know, they need to feel and know how much you care.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend visits maybe once a year when I’m not visiting her in Orlando! So we always have an itinerary that consists of where we are going to eat! Max’s wine Dive, Steak 48, and anything in 3rd ward Houston Texas on Sunday Funday is something we look forward to! She’s fashionista and loves luxury items, so the Galleria Mall is always a must as well! I don’t get out much, so when my BFF comes in town it’s a like a new experience for me as well! Last but not least, the grande finale is always PAPPADEAUX and CRAVE cupcakes!! We love good food!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout Edwin and Andrea Haynes for their mentorship and life coaching/strategizing! My Family who laid the foundation for me to be in a position to attract greatness by being incredible examples and cultivating my strength and intellect.
