Meet Nyannah Jeffries | Photographer, Creative Director, & MUA

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nyannah Jeffries and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nyannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to start a business in which the world will see through my eyes. They would see not only the things that I capture, but also the things that I created and was apart of.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Nyseyez was truly a blessing, a God-given name that perfectly encapsulates my creativity and business. It is a beautiful fusion of my name, Nyannah, and the word “eyes.” This brilliant revelation came about when I consistently received compliments about the beauty of my eyes, only to discover that this was the actual meaning of my name.
The combination of Nyannah and eyes resonated deeply with me, as it represents my ultimate goal: to inspire and share my unique perspective with the world. Nyseyez embodies the essence of what I create – captivating works that reflect the incredible visions I see through my own eyes.
I am grateful for this meaningful name, as it not only reflects my identity but also serves as a constant reminder of my purpose. Nyseyez, a name rooted in beauty and vision, truly embodies my mission to inspire and show the world the wonders that lie within my creative vision.
As I find myself reflecting on my creative career journey and the progress I’ve made. It’s been quite a ride! The key to my success so far has been consistency, dedication, and continuously believing in myself. Every day, I strive to be the best version of myself, always pushing to reach my goals.
But let me be honest, I’m not quite where I want to be yet. However, I remain focused on my end goals and work hard towards them every single day. It truly is about that daily grind when pursuing your own business.
Along this journey, I’ve faced some challenges that have really opened my eyes. One of them has been learning how to handle clients with respect, finding that balance between accommodating their needs while also recognizing my own value. It’s been a rewarding experience, though, as I’ve learned to stand firm in my worth.
Another challenge has been identifying the right people and opportunities to offer my services to. It’s important to understand that not all money is worth pursuing, and sometimes it’s better to say no. I’ve learned that the hard way, but it’s been a valuable lesson in my growth.
I want to leave you with this thought: never stop learning and never view setbacks as losses. They are lessons in disguise, guiding us towards our ultimate destination. So, keep pushing forward, and let your dedication and belief in yourself be the fuel that propels you towards success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re looking for a fun-filled itinerary in Washington DC, I’ve got you covered! First things first, you can’t miss out on the incredible museums in the city. Some of my personal favorites include the national African-American Museum, the fascinating Word Museum, and the newly opened Rubell museum.
Now, if you’re up for some nighttime adventure on the weekends, you’ve got to check out the events hosted by no standing room. Alternatively, you can also create your own adventure by riding scooters through the national Mall in the enchanting evening.
Let’s talk about food because who doesn’t love trying new and exciting cuisines? I highly recommend exploring the local Thai food scene, indulging in some delicious Caribbean dishes, and finding a great soul food spot. There are so many options to choose from that it’s best if you join me and we can explore together. Oh, and don’t forget to capture all those amazing moments with a trusty Polaroid camera!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Individuals that I would like to shout out that have nurtured my crafts, as well as encouraged me throughout, my journey would be God number one, my best friend Selah, my family, Bryce Jones, and my OG Instagram followers. Each and every person has played a key part my continued growth and success.
