We had the good fortune of connecting with Nubia Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nubia, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happy is a full cup to pour from. A well fed and nourished Nubia, in every way. Being able to pour love and energy into my craft and my loved ones because I have first done the work to overflow my cup and take care of self.

I am happiest with my hands and feet in the dirt and the sun on my skin. Spring reawakening, my communication and sacred relationship with nature. The smell of the Earth after the rain. A sunrise and sunset. A cup of herbal tea and a heated blanket. Nurturing seeds I’ve planted until they bear fruit. The rest and rewarding fulfillment that comes after hard work and intentional efforts.

It makes me happy to create wellness and holistic beauty offerings to share with the world. To receive testimonials that my products have helped improve someone’s health or self image.

I am my happiest making and growing things with my hands from scratch— turning oils into soap, seeds into harvest, fresh produce into meals. The alchemy of creation feels like magic. It brings me the ultimate joy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create what I consider functional art—defined as art that is created for use, designed to serve a specific purpose and with an aesthetic in mind. Products made by an Artisan are typically of high quality, aesthetically pleasing, made by hand using high quality ingredients. I believe my style of formulation and creativity set me apart from others. I largely utilize herbs, oils and clays and consider plants to be my medium. Plants power our infusions and give color to all our beauty products.

I grew to where I am being my authentic self, staying focused on my mission, having faith in the bigger picture and being consistent. A lot of trial and error fueled this growth, but the journey has been one of enlightenment. I want the world to know that I am just getting started. My mission is greater than holistic beauty, it’s for the greater good of our community as a whole—to educate and create more accessibility to holistic alternatives. I am simply fulfilling my ancestral call to action. The action and work is showing up in my gifts and walking in my divine destiny.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We could go for sushi or hibachi, have a brew at a coffeehouse or go wine tasting. An early hot yoga class, maybe a hiking trail or day trip to the beach. In my city there is plenty to do, so we could flow where the vibe takes us.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family and support system. Their love and encouragement keep me going, and I express my full gratitude for the roles they play in my life.
