Meet Norah Wilson | Dance Enthusiast, Lin Lover, Esthi Bestie

We had the good fortune of connecting with Norah Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Norah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It’s actually a mix of a lot of things. The initial thought of relaxation stems from the relationship/things I’ve noticed growing up with my mom, whom to this day I believe is one of the hardest working, ever-so giving woman I know. A lot of the moments I’ve had with her have always been limited to before/after work or while she was on break. She’d never complain, but I could tell she needed real rest just by the bags under her eyes. The thought of it being holistic stems from my relationship with myself; healing from within. Although there is nothing wrong in believing in medical science, there is something powerful in self-care; getting your nails done, hair done, taking yourself out, eating leafy greens. The indescribable feeling of joy and acceptance mixed in with that “treat- yourself” afterglow is something that can only be described as “OMG!”. I knew I had to go to school for this, because not only did I want to be able to make the money I knew was in the industry, but also to be truly knowledgeable in my craft {no shade, to YouTube University!} Specializing in facials was only by happenstance. At first it was daunting because in school we’re taught so many different ways to perform a facial as well as having to learn so many different precautions that all I thought was “OK what do I do next?” “What product do I use?” “Is it mask or massage first?” But after a while it just felt like one of my if not favorite all time activities, dancing. And that made me enjoy it so much that it’s become my specialty!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A lot of my background is in sales & performing arts, especially dance.
Dance started with joining an after-school dance team called, Khozanas (I think it means “little princesses” or “treasure”) to going to a performing arts camp that taught kids how to sing, dance, & act on a intro to professional level, to learning at one of the best performing art high schools ever, THE Tri-Cities High School. Truth be told, dance and I have come a LONG way since first starting, but it’s taught me that as long as it’s fun, it’s worth the frustration.
Now sales is courtesy of a great woman named Mrs. Renee! After finishing high school, I was presented with an opportunity to really put my vision to life by working with someone who has over numerous decades in the holistic field, however one of the requirements was I had to work at her kiosk in the mall {yes, I was one of “those” people}, even though her product is able to sell itself, my only job was to get it in their hands.
But think about it, what do you do when you spot a kiosk person?
You try like hell to avoid them. {que laugh track}
For hours, there were countless no’s, runs, and blatantly rude glance-aways but then there would be a couple people that would come and just about sell me out of product for the day. Those people would then come back, buy more, and even bring their friends. Working there helped me realize a couple things : 1. They’re not just buying the product they’re buying you, so if you
can sell yourself then you can sell anything. and 2 the plethora of “no’s” have way little value than the half a dozen of “yes’s”
No matter what, you’re gonna have it hard and it’s gonna be tough, but as long as you can find a way to make it fun it’s all worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ooo okay, so first day we’re gonna start of slow with some with ice cream from Jeni’’s, their ice cream is so delicious that you can’t even talk. Next day we’re going to Barnes & Nobles, there’s nothing like the smell of paperback books & Starbucks plus the vibes are so cozy! Next day we’re going to Piedmont Park it’s such a refreshing experience! From the people playing their instruments to the swings overlooking the water. of course we’re bringing our own snacks because they do be taxing {LOL} but it’s the perfect place to disconnect for a while and just have wholesome fun. We’ll finish off with the movies, specifically an AMC, there’s this new one on Memorial Dr. that not only has full reclining seats but THEY’RE HEATED!! It’s just makes you feel like you’re in your own personal movie. I’d definitely suggest checking out the Alcohall at Pullman Yards their jazz selection is pretty cool!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Omg, if i went through and thanked everyone, you’d be reading this FOUR EVVVV ERRRRR, but thank you to my baby family for encouraging me to start something new, thank you to Mrs. Renee’s Health Solutions for encouraging me to complete something old, and thank you to my besties who’ve supported me in any tense. 🫶🏽
