We had the good fortune of connecting with Noëlle Cameron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noëlle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk taking is important in everything you do. If you aren’t willing to risk something, then are you really passionate about it? Risk taking is all I feel like I do in acting. From every audition to every decision I make. In auditions, I don’t like to play it safe. I like to make bold choices that make sense to the character and the situation present.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actor. The first time I was on stage was in pre school as a cockatoo in a rendition of Noah’s Ark and from there it made sense for me to keep pursuing it. I didn’t have the easier childhood. I grew up in a single parent household (my father died when I was five). My mother was very emotionally and mentally abusive and wanted to do things within her parameters. Because of this, I was only able to pursue acting strongly after she died, which was last year. I jumped into classes, paid for the acting subscriptions and anywhere I needed to travel for film. A big thing for me was learning that spending money for my craft and passion was okay. It was really the only way to move forward and make strides. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that you will be told no 20x more than you will get a yes. You have to learn to be okay with that and know that your time is coming. The mentality shift was definitely the most important thing I have gone through for my career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming into town and if the day was a little longer than 24 hours. We would go hiking in the morning somewhere in the northern mountains. Once we were done we would grab some vegan milkshakes at the Yard and then some burgers from Slutty Vegan. We might hit an escape room after. Then we would finish up with a nice movie night and popcorn.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a couple of shoutouts. My boyfriend, Aaron Robinson, has been so supportive to my dynamic lifestyle. He’s also a filmmaker, so that helps. I wouldn’t have had been able to get my foot in the door as soon as I have, if he hadn’t been my reader for practically all my auditions. My best friend and makeup artist extraordinaire, Rachel Taylor. She has supported me with so much in my life. Words cannot cover how much she has helped me in my life. Lastly, Connor Pannell. He is one of the best directors I have worked with and gave me my first lead in a pilot. It was truly a pleasure working with him and developing such a great friendship through it!
