We had the good fortune of connecting with Noah Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind me starting my own business would simply stem from my passion and desires of being a business owner at a young age. I knew back in middle school and high-school that I wanted to be my own boss, it was just a matter of execution. The process behind me starting “Noven Skin”, was due to my bad acne throughout my adolescence. I knew that I wanted to start an eco-friendly, all natural, cruelty free, skincare line for all skincare types and break the stigma attached to men and skincare in todays world. My parent brand “Novenariah”, started out as a clothing brand that I started back in 8th grade. The initial name for the brand was titled “No Chill Vibery”, in which changed over the years into what it is now. I had my mom to take me to Walmart to buy plain t-shirts and buy this fabric paint they had in stock at the time. I initially used the fabric paint for a science project in 8th grade and from there I came up with the idea of just making art on clothing using the paint starting with shirts. As I’ve evolved and grown since then, I’ve decided to make “Novenariah”, a parent brand in which doesn’t limit or categorize itself. A clothing brand is definitely still in the works in which would be something you’d have to stay tuned in for! My logo colors for Noven Skin are green, black and white. Both of my businesses are a reflection of me to the t. I am an earth sign and my logo colors are green, black and white to reflect eco-friendly and biodegradable products. Noven originates from the word “Novena”, that means 9 consecutive days. I was born on the 9th of January. Also, if you look at my parent brand name, “Novenariah”, you’d be able to notice that both at the beginning and the end of the name. it’s spells out “Noah”, in which is my name. Every idea that I have now, related to my businesses has been in the works for years but is just now being put into action. You’ll never forget Novenariah X Noven Skin. Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began freelance modeling in 2018. It started out as birthday shoot for my 16th birthday. My brother is a photographer and I knew that I wanted to experiment with doing a photoshoot and I did as such. From that point on I made it a tradition to do a photoshoot for my birthday every year. I also wanted to become a more versatile model by shooting with different photographers and doing different concepts. Most of the photographers that I’ve shot with I found through social media. Looking back at the photoshoots then versus now you can definitely see that I am more in touch and in my element than ever before. I currently am the creative director of every photoshoot that I do. Everything is already planned out from location, outfit, concept and etc. What sets me apart from other creatives is that I am not scared to step out of my comfort zone. Most creatives have their own signature looks but when it comes to me, I have no signature look or aesthetic because I am versatile. You’d never be able to guess what kind of fit i’m going to throw bc I am so unpredictable and that’s how I like to be. I hate to be categorized. It’s honestly taken me a minute to get to where I am now because I didn’t use to be as confident as I am now. It definitely was not easy especially while being in school. I had very little to no inspiration when it came to fashion or modeling in school because there wasn’t anyone who were as interested in it as I was. I went to school many times wearing outfits that I felt good in and got bashed and talked about and it definitely ruined my self esteem to the point to where I was constantly questioning how I looked before leaving the house everyday. Even during school or outside of school, I would ask my friends if i looked okay or did my outfit look okay for reassurance which was quit honestly sad. I honestly just had to learn to not care and that has done me so well. To get out of my own comfort zone, i would buy pieces that I liked but was kind of iffy of wearing out and I’d just style it and wear it out. Lesson I’ve learned along the way is that opinions don’t matter, never minimize yourself, and we only get one life so live it to the fullest do as you please. Fashion has no rules. As long as your comfortable and in your element, nothing else matters. What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that you can do it too. I specifically would like to target the people out there who were exactly like me lacking confidence to know that you are not alone! Never give up on yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If i wanted to show my best friends a good time that’s visiting the area, we would go get manicures and pedicures done first. Then we’d probably stop at CAVA to get us a bowl. Then we’d probably go thrifting on moreland or to Finder’s Keeper’s consignment shop on North Decatur rd. Stop at Felini’s for sicilian slice of pizza for lunch. Then we’d probably go catch a movie at IPIC, do some walking around while take pics and then probably end the night at Cookout for a late night meal and a milkshake.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Someone I’d like to give a shoutout to that deserves a little credit would be my mom. Growing up, i was actually able to experience and witness what it was like for someone to run a business in which led to her multiple businesses now. She always pushed me to stay consistent with anything I chose to do and to make sure that I had all of my ducks in a row. She’s one of the reason why I fell in love with fashion as well. My mother always made sure I was looking good anywhere I went. I didn’t start dressing myself and buying my own clothes until high school. Anyone who knew her and currently knows my mom…. she’s a fly chick. I honestly get a lot of my essential qualities from her. My mom has actually always been a big help especially when it came to me starting from scratch on starting a business. There was a lot of things I was knowledgeable of back then that she was and I am forever grateful for those moments. Another person i would like to shout out is GOD! Thank you so much for giving me the eye and the vision for my businesses. Without you, none of this is would’ve been possible. A few honourable mentions would be my ex classmates from high-school, my friends and supportive internet friends. It can get very frustrating sometimes when you feel like you don’t have any support at times but there’s always that few amount of people that come through every time and prove me wrong. Having a support system or even just supportive friends and family is SO important! Follow her new Alkaline Water brand @imbuealkalinewater on instagram and tiktok.
