We had the good fortune of connecting with Nnique and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nnique, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Whether to keep going or give up? That’s easy; you NEVER give up on anything you truly want. It doesn’t matter how hard it may seem or how many obstacles jump out at you, those difficulties are a part of the process. Keep going. When it’s making you cry, keep going. When it’s getting frustrating, keep going. When you’re getting overwhelmed, take a breather, but keep going. Nothing in this life comes easy and if it’s making you uncomfortable, that just means you’re about to pop. If you’re feeling stagnant, that means you should push a little harder. But no matter what, you NEVER give up on anything because when you fall, you’ll fall right where you want to.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I keep adding to what I want to do. I was just writing and recording at first, but I’ve branched into learning to record myself and others and teaching myself to produce. Soon I’ll be learning to make beats. It hasn’t been the easiest journey because I have a full time job and I’m a mom with another on the way, but nothing is impossible with time management. I make sure I have enough time for work, play and rest. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to have a healthy work/life balance to prevent a burnout.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
During this pandemic I don’t really get out much because being pregnant makes me a bit more at-risk than others, but I do enjoy getting boba tea at the Bubble Hut in Douglasville.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would really love to dedicate this shoutout to my daughter: Kaylanii. I’ve been scared to put myself out there and be myself in my music and I’ve wanted to give up and try something else a billion times, but when I look at that little face or I hear her singing my songs or getting excited when the beat even comes on, I’m reminded of exactly why I keep pushing and who I’m doing it for.
