We had the good fortune of connecting with Niyati Jiwani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Niyati, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“A picture is a secret about a secret, the more it tells you the less you know.” – Diane Arbus This depicts my personality as an artist. As a contemporary artist, I make an effort to put my thoughts and imagination with colors on a blank piece of canvas. Each individual viewer has a unique perception about my paintings and thus, it is a secret about a secret.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Versatility in my work makes me different from other artists. As an artist, it elevates me to connect with people and spread happiness through my artwork. My compositions comprise of vibrant and subtle colors which creates an everlasting impact on the viewers making them feel positive, pure and blissful. My art style speaks abstract impressionism, open-ended and surreal with showing some drama in it. The journey to begin with was very thick and thin. It took years of practice and dedication to be the artist I am today. Every day was a learning experience but my soul as an artist made me stand against all odds in my career. My new art work always makes me a student and I learn new things from my each art piece. With each of my painting, It enhances my skills and instills new dynamics as an artist in me holistically.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As an artist who’s been living in Atlanta for many years, It’s a perfect balance of nature and entertainment which is something I would focus on. First we’ll start off by exploring Piedmont park and the businesses surrounding the area to get a glimpse of the natural beauty along with the classic southern hospitality. A major attraction to visit while in Atlanta would be the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta which is one of the largest in the nation. The Ferris Wheel and The Varsity are also in that area which is what ATL is known for. A hidden gem to visit while near ATL is Honest, an Indian veg. restaurant which has some of the best food in town. A trip to Atlantic Station later on in the week would be a fun surprise so we can shop and hang out at the same time. To get active, a hike at Stone Mountain to embrace all of Atlanta would be perfect, and put a good end off to an eventful week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to pay my humble respect and gratitude to Milan Art Institute and along with all the mentors who helped me walk this path . Their feedbacks and encouragement helped me to be who I am today. My sincere credits to all my viewers/patrons who supported me in my journey.
