We had the good fortune of connecting with Nita Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nita, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
I actually have a scripture. Romans 8:31 If God be for us, who can be against us? That statement alone makes me fearless! I think about it like this. No matter what the circumstances are, no matter what I’m up against, no matter what is needed, I have the strength, power, and resources to do whatever it is I want to do. That’s simply because I align myself with God. I love that I have that mindset bc I’m a go getter and that helps me make it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I would describe my art as innovative, inventive, imaginative, creative and ingenious! What sets me apart from others is that I provide an experience when you get your nails done, you’ll always have something to take away when you leave my chair! that may include laughter, joy, insight, peace, knowledge or just to feel love! I got to where I am professionally through some amazing people, who saw my value and knew I would be a perfect asset to the industry. That then turned into me grinding and dedicating my time and energy into making sure I didn’t fail. This was not an easy journey. I sacrificed so much time away from my children, my friends everything about my life was centered around becoming successful. I overcame the challenges by actually setting boundaries. i decided that I needed to spend more time with my children and I wanted to enjoy some parts of my accomplishments. So i decided I would take a day off, I decided I wouldn’t work sun up to sun down and it worked. I’ve learned so many lessons along the way. Id say the first lesson was learning my value in what I had to offer. People respect you differently when you come in confident. I learned it was ok to say no. What’s for you is for you! I would like the world to know that doing nails is not a hobby. It can actually become a very lucrative business, I treat every client like they are a celebrity, whether they are famous to me or famous to the world. Imnails Noir is a brand that exudes excellence and a great experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, if my bestie wants to come visit the first thing, I would do is make sure they come on Sunday. The first order of business is Sunday Funday! We will start on the Rooftop of the Thompson Hotel if weather permits. Have a little cocktail and a bite. Then take a nap and get ready for Whiskey Mistress and leave there and finish the night at MCK. On Monday we would relax do a little Nail therapy ie go to the nail supply store and buy supplies that I need. Grab some Starbucks and head in to get dressed an go to Blaze Steak and Seafood. On Tuesday its Taco Tuesday. So, I’d start with Margaritas at Red Pepper and then go grab tacos from Pretty Little Tacos. Wednesday would include a day of rest and relaxation while we prepare for dinner and drinks at Sea Salt. Thursday we would go to Drawbar. Friday, we have to go have the best daquiris the city has to offer at New Orleans Daquiri Bar and Grill. They also have a bomb menu, so the food won’t disappoint! Saturday is retail therapy. My favorite store is Saks of Fifth, ask for Lita she’s the absolute best. Saturday we would have lunch at Old Lady Gang take a nap and then get dressed and ready to end the night at Blue Martini!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people responsible for my success. So I would like to thank my group of family and friends that have always listened to my ideas, rooted for me, uplifted me, motivated me hell even gotten on my nerves with constant questions that ultimately kept me on my toes and made me what I am today.
