We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nina, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I find it ironic that most people attracted to a career in real estate think that they will have flexible hours and it’s easy to reach a work life balance. What I think the majority of us who turn selling real estate into a long-life career discover, is that it’s near impossible to achieve a work life balance without being insanely purposeful. It took me a good 15 years before I would say I had a work life balance at all. That is largely my fault. First I didn’t have awareness around the fact that I had no balance in my life. I definitely didn’t adapt the proper habits from the beginning to help me achieve living a balanced life. And I didn’t put up enough guardrails to protect my time. Fast forward 15 years I’ve learned that more balance can come from leveraging right pieces of the business. I/we couldn’t do everything for every client. Especially if my intentions were to grow the business, and they were. Having a real estate career also comes with the acceptance that balance may also ebb and flow in different seasons of real estate and growth too. And that’s okay.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our real estate team is a group of servant minded leaders, who partner with our community of clients, helping them achieve both their personal and financial goals through real estate. We are not transactional. We as a team are like family, and we consider our clients family. Our goal is to build relationships in which clients come back to us to move up, downsize, buy an investment property, sell their parents a house, refer their co-worker and also their cousin who’s moving from out of state. Having served a lot of relocation clients over the years we often say that we are our clients’ first friend. We strive to be a resource. A connector. Whether it’s finding them the perfect community to move to, or helping them grow wealth through real estate, we want to be a strategic partner. Our goal is not to be the biggest team, but the best with who we work with. We truly love what we do, otherwise we couldn’t do it. I joke that it isn’t just a career, that it’s a way of life. There is no one that will work harder, or care more than we do. I once had a closing attorney tell me that she has agents who ask her what makes The Suits Team work so well? And she told them that we really like each other!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a foodie myself, everything I plan and do revolves around eating. My favorite brunch spot is Haven in Brookhaven. They make a delicious Bloody Mary, the beignets are perfect, and the sausage and biscuits are even better! I would go for lunch or dinner at Antiguo Lobo in Chamblee. The drinks are stiff, the fundido and salsa on point, and anything with the steak is my favorite! For dinner I’ll never say no to a steak at Hal’s in Buckhead, or the filet and sea bass at Rumi’s Kitchen. Yum!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Being in the right place at the right time is a real thing. I was in my first job out of college, interested in getting into real estate but not having a clue how to go about it, and a co-worker introduced me to Madalyn Suits. I owe everything to Madalyn. She had already begun her real estate career and was successfully building her business. She was seeking leverage, hired me to start as an unlicensed agent, and from there the team grew. This was 20 years ago. We’ve built a largely successful partnership and team together. And a big thanks to Keller Williams Realty for teaching us how to build a business, and how to become better people for our clients and family through their endless amount of growth opportunities.
