We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Petrow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki, do you have a budget?
I have an unspoken budget. I don’t have set money limits towards specific things, but I always spend cautiously. The key to staying within your budget is to have good saving habits, spend money on things that are of high value to you or most necessary, and only spend what you can afford.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What is interesting about my career is the juxtaposition between creativity and technical information. As an artist for a global software company, I am able to let my creativity soar while bringing technical information to life with easy to follow graphics and creative concepts. I never would have been able to see myself working for a Fortune 500 company if I didn’t believe in my talents or have a passion for what I do. Once I knew I wanted to be a Graphic Designer, I pursued it like my life depended on it. Through the tears wept and blood shed, I never gave up. I had so much faith and trust in myself, and I knew what I had to do to get exactly what I wanted. Now I’ve been in my career for a year and a half, and I’m still thankful every day that I get to work with a company and team that offers more than I could have ever imagined for myself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were to curate the perfect trip to Atlanta, my first stop would be to the Beltline. My favorite thing to do is explore and longboard around there and stop for some food and drinks at Hawkers. I am obsessed with their Pork Belly & Seoul Hot Chicken Baos. Another fun activity would be a champagne and charcuterie board picnic at Piedmont Park! We’d have to dress nice, and bring lots of throw pillows and blankets. The more aesthetic, the better. Another one of my favorite food spots is Pretty Little Tacos. It’s a quick food spot, but their Birria Tacos are fabulous and Colony Square is a cute place to hang out. At some point, we would have to go out to Tiki Tango. That’s a great dance/lounge spot in Atlanta. For a weekend brunch, we would have to make a reservation at Superica in Buckhead. They have the best spicy margaritas and breakfast tacos. That is a must!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shout-out to all my friends, family members, peers, and colleagues that have been a part of my journey thus far. It’s been the constant love, support and appreciation that has given me my confidence and drive to succeed.
