We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikita Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikita, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“You can’t get to where you’re trying to go doing the same thing, you must be willing to change to get to where you want to go.” Usher, R&B Artist

Actress Helen Hunt stated, The only time when she moved forward in her career, was when she said NO to things that were familiar or had done before.

Both of these statements are impactful as a reminder to keep moving forward; step outside the box and jump. Explore new ideas, and ways to implement them; attend a seminar; enroll in a Master Class. Just step out of that comfort zone.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being consistent is key! We can easily be distracted and get off course, but maintaining a mindset to stay focused on the main objective is important. The distractions may be good ideas, but not for that moment.

As the Founder and Creative Director for WSFW, I often deal with “imposter syndrome”. However, it’s the determination and focus on the Why I do what I do; why it’s important. It’s important that we use this platform for artisans with focus on fashion have opportunities and access to connecting with primary markets. I overcome those imposter thoughts and know what I bring to the table. I belong at the table of success, as a leader and trailblazer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In the City of Winston Salem there’s so many new restaurants, breweries, and lounges that are well established with great food and drinks. I would love to explore a new restaurant with my guest. We must take in a few art shows at a museum; an opera performance. Shopping at local boutiques; thrifting at consignments is always a thrill. It’s the thrill of the hunt.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
