Meet Nikaela Johnson | Artist and Nonprofit Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikaela Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikaela, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Creating a routine and becoming mindful of my daily habits. My life truly changed when I began to monitor the habits I kept, such as how often I worked out throughout the week or even eating regularly. This allowed me to figure out how to make the most of my time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve faced many challenges as an Atlanta creative. I began modeling, then I created a series on IG called Southside Sex Therapist which discussed different sexuality and intimacy topics amongst young people in Atlanta. After a few episodes of this, I began to do music management and networking, where I met many of the creatives that I am close with now. While balancing my creative pursuits, I was an undergraduate and Master’s student at Agnes Scott College, where I earned my degree in Public Health in 2021. After graduating, I started a business as an eyelash technician, which has all0wed me to create and network full time. I am currently finishing the Master’s program with the intent to graduate by December of 2022. No matter what decision I’ve made, I’ve always made sure that I was creating something and working towards some sort of life-altering goal. I plan on keeping this mentality for the rest of my life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Vegas, particularly the strip. Depending on the time of year, we would go to the Day N Vegas Music Festival. We would walk the strip to see the lights, go to casinos, and stay out all night. I love traveling and exploring cities, so I would just have us walk aimlessly into as many fun places as we can until we can’t anymore.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to Jinn’s Crib, Inc. This is my family’s nonprofit organization, founded in 2021. We provide basic necessities to young mothers and families in need for newborns and toddlers completely free of charge. We will have many opportunities to volunteer or donate to our organization and I would love for our community to help us spread our message and resources.
