Meet Nik Starrett: Founder of You Grow Girl Women”s Ministry

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nik Starrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nik, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I began my ministry, You Grow Girl, it was very much God-ordained and Spirit led. I have been sharing God’s Word for years and felt it was time to take the next step and create a place where women could come together virtually to connect and learn more about Christ. My hope and goal is to bring women together from all across the world and having an online ministry allows me the opportunity to do this.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
You Grow Girl is what I like to call a virtual faith movement. It’s a place where women can find free resources to help their walk with Christ, nurture their mental health, and grow in their spiritual health. Alongside the You Grow Girl ministry, I am also active on my youtube channel, Culture By Nik. On my channel, I focus on teaching the Bible in a way that is digestible and understandable to new christians. It has not always been easy to do this because the Bible can be very complex and takes a lot of studying to not only comprehend but be able to teach. But this is what we as Christians have been called to do. We are called to be disciples and with the help of God, I’ve been able to do His Will. One thing I’d want the world to know about my brand is that we are authentic and that there is power in being true to self. People may try to make you feel bad about your past but I want anyone that watches my videos or follows my ministry to know that you are not your past and you are not your mistakes. You are a child of God and you are growing!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely start at JR Crickets! I love wings and JR Crickets is a staple in Atlanta. Everyone should try their wings at least once in their lifetime. From there we would have to visit one of my favorite parks, Centennial, and enjoy the weather (assuming it’s a warm Hotlanta day). I think a lot of tourist would also enjoy taking a ride on Skyview because it shares a lot of information on the cities favorite attractions and you can get a great view of Atlanta from the top. Next, I’d take them to the Coke Museum and to the Aquarium because both of those are always a great time and you can usually get a few freebies and cool pictures from there. Lastly, we’d have to end the day with a stop at Ted’s Montana Grill and order the Avalon Burger, it’s so good!!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout my mother, Doris, she is the reason I am who I am today. She taught me the Bible at a young age and made sure I was grounded in God’s Word. She also leads a grief ministry where she comforts and helps those who are grieving. She provides the members with wonderful resources, knowledge, and support. Furthermore, she is a Sunday School teacher, participates in jail ministry, and holds a Biblical Studies degree. I truly get my passion of learning and teaching from my mother.
I would also like to shoutout my mentor Ms. Donnella, she is the founder of a women’s ministry named Women After God’s Own Heart (WAGOH). She has allowed me to speak at many of her events and has guided me in creating my own ministry. Her ministry has reached women all over and has impacted the lives of many.
