We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from a small country town with dirt roads surrounded by fields, in Anthonyville, Arkansas, with a population of 250 people. I was brought up in poverty, very sheltered, and in church by a single mother. I had 2 siblings, and my father left due to drug addiction, when I was 2 years old. At that very age, it would be the first time I was introduced to sexual abuse, almost causing my mother to lose her children. We moved from the country to the projects in the city, and back to the country as my mom struggled while trying to obtain her nursing degree. Years later, my mom would remarry to a guy that initially seemed, heaven sent. He became my next abuser from the age of 10 until about 14 years of age. My older sister, who witnessed him sexually assaulting me, decided to share that news with my mom once she graduated high school and was leaving for college. They divorced, but I had to deal with the after affect of being abused. I became a teen mom at the age of 15 and before I graduated high school, I had two children with a guy who was also abusive. Long story short, I made a lot of decisions that I’m not proud of, but I graduated high school in the top percentile of my class and went on to college to pursue a degree in nursing, as my mom was a nurse. Becoming a teen mom, I had to place my children in childcare where I would later be hired to work. I fell in love with the field and have been there since, amongst other things. At age 24, I would open my own childcare center, with my college refund check and ran a successful business up until I wrote my first book, “Broken for Purpose,” where I shared the brokenness of my story and how God saved me and changed my life. I began to travel, and speak, telling of my story down to being invited to speak in the presence of the governors wife of Arkansas at the time. I finished college with my degree in Early Childhood Education, and currently I serve on the corporate training team, where I train teachers in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. I have also received calls here lately to train in other states, as well as Africa being on the horizon. I also rewrote my story, and released a revised edition of my book called, “Unstoppable.” After battling with depression and suicidal thoughts, God reminded me that although my life has been full of troubles, hurt, and pain, NOTHING has stopped me. Changing my perspective on life, has proven to me the true grace, grit, and greatness on the inside of me! My obstacles in life has shaped me to be the person I am, doing the things I love, Helping people daily to excel in life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently, I serve as a Teacher Training Specialist, where I am graced to train teachers, directors, and the like, throughout the SE Region. I’m also a conference speaker/trainer in the ECE field. I recently began my own consulting firm, The NW Childcare Consulting Firm, where I am able to train and speak across the world. This journey has not been easy, but the uncomfortability of my life, is what ultimately pushed me to greatness. I had to climb out of the pit in my mind, in order to climb out of the pit in my emotions, and my life. I had to decide to go after all the things I was afraid to go after, or didn’t feel worthy, or qualified to go after. I have learned to be fearless, and to embrace all of me. I’ve learned to walk in rooms and KNOW that I belong there! I want the world to know that if God did it and continues to do it for me, He can do it for you too! If only you would believe!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a girly girl who likes to have fun. We would visit Top Golf, iFly, Six Flags, Your 3rd Spot, ride some horses and atv’s; take some cooking and perfume making classes and eat at places like Cafe Intermezzo, TWO Urban Licks, Yebo Beach Haus, and catch some rooftop vibes such as Tessarae.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been so many who has pushed and encouraged me along the way in life. My God-Grandmom, Chriss Weary helped shape me to be the woman I am today. She taught me how to just be a lady. Leather and Lace. Many friends, and prophets that God has used to help shape my life; Prophetess Rashawna Smith, Prophetess Jaliesha Stewart, my former employer, Porter-Leath who shaped me to be the trainer I am today, and the many great people I met while working for that company who have become lifelong friends.
