Meet Nicole Thomas | Social Media Manager & Resume Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have two businesses ConnextSocial, which does social media management, graphic design and website design, and Rockin Rollin Resumes, which does resume writing and cover letter writing.
I used to have a full time job working for a law firm as their Community Liaison. When I was their Community Liaison, I managed the law firm’s social media and networked a lot at business associations on behalf of the law firm. I met many successful business owners and that inspired me to become an entrepreneur. I really value connection and refer business owners when I can.. The reason why I named my business, ConnextSocial, is because my mission is to connect business owners to their next successful connection through social media marketing and advertising.
I started Rockin Rollin Resumes after meeting with a friend and helping her write her resume and cover letter. She told me that I did a great job and that I should write resumes and cover letters as a side business. I named my business, Rockin Rollin Resumes, because it sounds catchy, and I like the alliteration.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
ConnextSocial does social media management, graphic design and website design. Rockin Rollin Resumes does resume writing and cover letter writing. I love being a business owner because it allows me to help people. With ConnextSocial, I am helping business owners succeed by managing their social media, designing their business cards, flyers, and brochures, and designing websites. ConnextSocial’s mission is to help business owners connect to their next successful connection through advertising. While I try to refer everyone I can, I definitely refer my clients more. I want potential clients to know that I can help them get more business, not only by managing their social media, doing graphic design work, and website design, but also by referring them.
Rockin Rollin Resume’s mission is to help hardworking professionals get the job they deserve. With my resume and cover letter clients, I email them a list of jobs that are hiring that fit the career they are wanting. This is not only beneficial for my clients, but it’s also beneficial for me, because I look at the job descriptions in order to know what words to use to write their resumes.
I got where I am today by choosing to follow my dream of becoming an entrepreneur, being inspired by other business owners, helping business owners by referring them and helping my friends write their cover letters and resumes. I have gotten clients by networking at business associations, strengthening my referral network, and replying on posts on Cherokee Connect (a Facebook Group for people who live in Cherokee County) when someone asks who can help them manage their social media, design their website, write their cover letter, and write their resume, It’s been a little challenging getting clients, but I am overcoming that by continuing to network and responding as fast as I can to posts on Cherokee Connect when I see someone who is looking for a social media manager, graphic designer, website designer, cover letter writer, and resume writer.
I’ve also promoted my business by speaking on a social media panel at Ball Ground Business Club, managing West Cobb Business Association’s social media, presenting about my business at 1 Million Cups, and being interviewed on Business RadioX.
I’ve learned that getting clients is not an overnight process, but it’s worth the effort and journey it takes to get there.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As funny as it sounds, I would take my friend to business clubs and associations. I love business clubs and associations because it helps me grow, not only as a business owner, but also as a person. The business owners are also extremely kind. I especially like Ball Ground Business Club, because they ask professional questions and personal questions. I would also take my friend to Circle of Friends Coffee Shop in Downtown Woodstock at Chattahoochee Tech. Circle of Friends employs young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and they have amazing coffee and treats. I’m very close with the people who work at Circle of Friends and used to volunteer doing their social media. Other places I would take my friend would be Reformation Brewery, Sweet Reads (which is a coffee shop and sells used books), and Dress Up,

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Nina Ferentinos. She is a wonderful person and photographer. I met her at Roswell Business Club, and she referred me to Shoutout Atlanta.
