We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicol McClendon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicol, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am a self-taught, trial and error, 4x published independent author.

It was my duty to start a self publishing company to help others especially women share their stories without making the costly mistakes I have.

I wanted to provide a one stop shop to empower women with the tools needed to share their stories and heal their hearts.

I learned by failing often and I’ve made the mistakes so now I can help others write and self publish the correct way, leaving a legacy for their families.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe that everyone has a story, and it is theirs alone to tell. I also know for women particularly, there is a struggle between balancing “I am ok, and I am still healing” especially after living through some of the more difficult lessons of life.

As an author, I am most proud that my stories have helped put a real face to hope and healing. I’ve had many women (and men) express gratitude for my transparency in sharing my journey.

When we share our stories we give people hope. Sharing our stories let’s people know they’re not alone.

As a publisher and writing coach, my mission is to help others release their story, their way. Many people are afraid to speak their truth, my business is helping them write it.

I help people share their stories fearlessly, honestly and truthfully. “You can not heal if you do not reveal.”

Writing is a very vulnerable art. Many need a safe space to bounce ideas off of and what sets me apart from others is that I provide a safe judgment free zone, I help many first time writers find clarity in their message and begin writing; and once their manuscript is complete I help them self publish quality books. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shoutout and Thank the women who came before me from whom I draw my strength, my Mother whom I affectionately call “Sis” and my Grandmother “Candy”. There are few who stand beside me and lift me up, I also Shoutout the women who genuinely have my back.
