We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick & Renee Stuible and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick & Renee, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since graduating college, both of us have always worked corporate jobs. We make great salaries and have, for the most part, enjoyed our work. About eight years into our marriage we were both still growing in our jobs and “climbing the ladder” but something felt missing. We felt like we lacked true purpose in what we were doing. Not to mention we didn’t love the fact that we were actively building somebody else’s empire when we could be building our own.

We both grew up middle class, not poor but definitely not wealthy. The realization started to come to us that if we wanted the lifestyle we both dreamed about which was financial freedom, generational wealth for our kids, and the power to define our path, we had to take our careers into our own hands.

Our experiences up until that point helped create the vision we developed for our business which is a pro-wrestling training center. We saw a need (something we wish we had had) and said “who better to do this than us?”

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We own an elite pro-wrestling training center in Longwood, FL called the House of Champions. We didn’t know it at the time, but our dream started years ago when Nick started his own pro-wrestling training journey. He has trained at many different schools in different states and we were always confused why for a billion dollar industry (literally), pro-wrestling’s training ground was most commonly found in back-alley warehouses that were hard to find, gritty, and didn’t offer all the necessary elements needed to train to become a real pro-wrestler.

If you want to become a NFL player, you know the steps. Kill it in high school, hopefully attend and play at a D1 college, get drafted. There is a clear path set for most athletes who want to compete at the highest level. Pro-wrestling is a different story. Most aspiring pro-wrestlers have no idea where to start, have a hard time finding good quality training, then struggle to navigate the independent scene on their journey to working their way towards the WWE.

There’s only one training center in the country that has it all: the NXT Performance Center, but only WWE signed athletes are allowed to utilize that facility. We had a dream to open a training center unlike any other that offered what the PC has to the public. We wanted to make good quality training easy to find, easy to start, and easy to navigate. In addition to that, we invested in state-of-the-art gym equipment and recovery options like a Cold Plunge and an Infrared Sauna so our athletes have everything they need to train and recover. Outside of training, pro-wrestlers are their own business. So we also offer marketing classes and coaching from Renee who is an experienced corporate marketer. She trains our students on the importance of building a personal brand, how to portray themselves online, and the ins-and-outs of social media. Finally, what truly sets the HOC apart from other schools is the environment; we are a family that is there to support each other and lift each other up. At the HOC, we call ourselves and our members CHAMPIONS, and our saying is GO MAD (Go Make A Difference). We want to build not just great pro-wrestlers, but build great CHAMPIONS who are incredible people of character and integrity that will bring a light into the world. Our faith in Jesus is our foundation that guides our way and our decisions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have two young kids and one on the way so our idea of “best time ever” may look different than most! We are Disney people so we love a good day at one of the parks. If we aren’t at the parks, we are likely taking a day trip to New Smyrna Beach of Ormond Beach. Both are very family friendly and the beaches are easily accessible.

Food is our love language and we have one “cheat meal” a week so we definitely have our favorite food spots in the area! If you want the best burger or chicken sandwich (ask for the Jamie Stanley), we love Alex’s Fresh Kitchen in Casselberry, nobody beats Bayridge Sushi in Longwood, Tomasino’s Pizza is our go to for amazing NY style pies, and for a nice date night we either hit up Prato or Bosphorus in Winter Park. For dessert, you’ll usually catch us at Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Nan & Pops Ice Cream in Longwood, or Donut King in Winter Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d like to give a huge shoutout to our parents. We’re not sure if they thought we were crazy (or still do!) or just ambitious, but both sets believed in us and our dream. They both invested in the business to give us the initial capital needed to start the business. Without them we wouldn’t be where we are today!
