We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick “Nickyboy” Leonardo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick “Nickyboy”, how do you think about risk?
Risk Taking plays a huge role in my life/career. Pursuing anything in a creative industry is a huge risk. Nothing is guaranteed There”s no salary & no paycheck you know is coming at the end of the week. You have to get after it and make it work. Becoming comfortable with the uncertainty is something i’ve learned to accept

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a producer i’d say something that sets me apart the most is the style of music I make. I’ve been around so many dope laptop producers making trap beat after trap beat in FL Studio. I’ve also been around so many ridiculously talented musicians in the scene that can do laps around me. My strong suit is knowing theres magic in both these worlds and finding a way to bridge that gap in my production.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I grew up on a farm in small town South Jersey about 45 minutes out of Philly. Any time i’ve had an artist or friend stay with me for a few days I always bring them to Tony’s Lunch. It’s a small mom & pop style diner in the heart of Vineland. JUst good greasy homestyle food made with love. you could maybe fit 30 people in this place max.

Another spot i’d say is either hit my local 9 hole golf course Lotona country club or if its warm enough bring them down to the Jersey shore.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In the last year i’ve joined an accountability great called “Influenced Mindset”. We keep each other on track with our goals. staying consistent in the gym. reading scripture etc. Having this group of likeminded men has become such a vital asset for my growth. It is important to surround yourself with winners and thats exactly what the group is.
