We had the good fortune of connecting with Nichole & Meredith Thompson, Lilly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nichole & Meredith, how do you think about risk?
As it relates to doing business in another country, this was a “high stakes” risk for owners, Nichole & Meredith however both fully believe in being driven by “what they see versus what they feel.” They saw themselves changing the narrative as it relates to handbags and leather goods. You dont commonly hear ” Made in Africa” and we wanted to make this a norm, risky…very much so, but a risk we are willing to take over and over again.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Dr. Nichole Thompson, Founder & Co Owner owns Consulting Firm where she works with organizations, tech companies and entrepreneurs to implement strategies for optimal performance.

Attorney Meredith Lilly, is an attorney and serves as the State Director of Senator Raphael Warnock

Both owners have terminal degrees and have worked hard in their primary professional careers however launching a hand bag company in another country has been one of the most challenging task. Entrepreneurship alone can be challenging but when you add in culture & language differences, time zone changes and other learning curves it takes thick skin to do what we do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dinner at Hals is a must

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our shout out belongs to our clients! They firmly believe in our mission to elevate Africa through the creation of high end handbags. Our clients are not only supportive but they go hard for this brand. They are the reason we thrive, they are brand ambassadors and word of mouth advocates.

Additionally, we are shouting out each-other, the cousin owners, Nichole & Meredith, both have other careers and its not easy managing all of the pop up shops, designing and day to day operations but the cousin owners are committed to expanding their families legacy as well as their impact in Africa
