We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Akoto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicholas, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It all starts from doing what I enjoy. I find the best business to be ones that I’d be willing to do for free. The arts in general is my thing so I’ve built my business around clothes, graphic design and consulting

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
– I’m not sure what sets me apart from others. I think that’s something my supporters would have to answer.

– I’m most proud of my YouTube channel and how it’s been able to help so many people in starting their clothing brands

– How I got where I am now is full of twists and turns but I’ve noticed it’s a determined spirit that had pushed me through all of it. I can’t necessarily say it was hard because everyone has different advantages but all that means nothing if you don’t work for it

– One things I want the world to know about my story is that my story is just one possibility just like many others they may look up to. Don’t fixate on the perfect route and just start moving

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a super home body but if you’re interested in gear then I have the list for you.

Ward9 – Sneaker boutique that I am also the brand director for. Great local mom & pop restaurants near by

SOMEWHERE – Well rounded fashion boutique carrying everthing from streetwear to high-end. Located in Navy Yard DC so expect good eats there too

Atmos – Another spot for dope shoes and clothes. If you’re ever in Georgetown DC then it’s a must

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are too many people to shoutout just one but I’d like to say thanks to my friends, family and God. Another thanks to the DMV being the environment that shaped me.
