We had the good fortune of connecting with Netta Finley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Netta, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for the company originated from the enjoyment of creating and making things; taking raw materials and forming them into functional goods.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love creating and making custom pieces for people to enjoy. I am also a details person who struggles with perfectionism which can be a hinderance to production at times. I’ve learned that it helps to take a step back from the work to get a high level view and not get stuck on minute things; many times having to remind myself that there is beauty in the imperfections. I’ve learned over the years to be flexible and always being willing to make adjustments. The best plans sometimes don’t work, and plan B can turn out to even better than the original idea.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I hope my friend has some ideas of what they want to do for a full week, but I can help fill in some gaps. I enjoy trying new things so I would look up something we have never done before, like archery, and book a lesson. We can have a little fun and get small bites and drinks at The Painted Duck one evening and/or a visit to the High Museum to check out new art exhibits. Maybe hit a concert at Center stage, Vinyl or the Tabernacle. For food, I’d have to run my friend by Thumbs up diner for and the Highland Bakery for the sweet potato pancakes for breakfast. Lunch we could visit Ponce for an array of eateries-Botiwalla would be a must though or some tacos at Velvet Tacos. Dinner would have to include Tuk Tuk for some Thai food , Gypsy Kitchen and Atlanta Fish Market for some seafood. For sweets, can’t go wrong with a slice of cake from A Piece of Cake and a scoop of Brown Butter Almond Brittle at Jeni’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Hmmm…this could be several people, but I would say the creative gene I got from my mother, Cassandra Finley, and the foundational life lessons that I learned from her model, continues to contribute to my success. I have an awesome support system in my sisters, Nikki, Netra, Kre and Cha along with my friends. They are my sounding boards, testers and truth tellers when I need an honest opinion. I’m grateful for the many people God has placed in my path that I get encouragement from, learn from, and can seek refuge in when needed.
