Hi Nene, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is such a necessary part of growth. Remaining in comfortable positions can stagnant your true potential. I have lived by the motto “feel the fear and do it anyway” while running my business. I have seen the most growth personally and business wise when I have pushed myself to uncomfortable levels. You must stay the course and go the distance even when it feels unfamiliar or risky. That is where you will truly succeed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Majestic Beauty By Nene is a cosmetic, skincare & makeup line formulated and created for all skin types. We do specialize in providing all natural products, chemical and cruelty free for those with skin issues. I personally have suffered from a range of different skin issues throughout my life and always had an issue finding products made with minimal ingredients that actually help heal the skin while caring for it. I am most proud of the many testimonials from customers with eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, dry skin, acne and more. Knowing that I was able to make a positive impact on someone’s life and help enhance their confidence again was definitely a highlight for me and helps to keep me going. The journey was not easy for sure since I opened right before Covid began but I overcame those challenges by never giving up, remaining persistent and consistent. I have learned many lessons along the way but one of the most important lessons is invest everything you can into your business. Most times we think that investing is geared towards finances. You must also invest your time, energy, creative ideas and effort to ensure that you stand out from other brands. Continue to push your brand, market even when you may not feel inspired and go the extra mile to get your name out there. The only thing that will pay off with owning your own business, is consistency and persistency.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, we would definitely go to Slutty Vegan!! We would hang out and maybe have a gathering here at my place and spend time catching up. I would have family and friends over for a family game night, 90’s Trivia and great music!! These are the types of vibes that I enjoy!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my husband and two children for always believing in me, providing me inspiration and encouragement to keep going. My husband and I have been together almost 16 years and he has truly been my muse. We have grown so much, from going with the flows of life, working 9-5’s that were not fulfilling and finding our entrepreneurship/business frame of mind together. He has inspired me and many others to BELIEVE and watch the magic happen. He is an independent videographer/filmmaker/editor who has accomplished so much. I watched him pick up a camera and tell me that he will learn to use it and witness him actually do it. He is now partnering with our super talented uncle, Terry and they are running a very successful multimedia company called Envisage Affiliates based in Atlanta, Ga. My two children are also young business owners as well. They are the center of my life and provide me the ultimate level of confidence to keep moving forward. My daughter is 13 and well on her way to becoming a young black fashion designer. My son is 8 and already has his own baking business called Poppa Sweetz. The level of support and unwavering encouragement from my family keeps me going. Whenever I need the inspiration, it is always around me. I thank my family for being who they are to me and helping me get this far. It’s only up from here!!!
