We had the good fortune of connecting with Nelysia Lari Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nelysia Lari, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks are intimidating but necessary on the road to success. You have to be ready to be uncomfortable in order to reach heights. I had to adjust to different patterns, sacrifice as well as study my craft before I was able to begin my journey. I gave myself time and created my own pace to reach a level of steadiness so that I could maintain one goal set at a time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For a few years I allowed fear to stall my journey into the fashion industry. I would listen to the downfall and doubts from others and get discouraged. One day I just decided to go for it. I studied what others weren’t doing, started back investing and really mapped out my vision. I gave myself time to prepare at a steady pace, I didn’t allow myself to compete with anyone other that my personal fears while still supporting others. This field is a never ending marathon full of turns but like I do in all aspects of my life, I let my positive thoughts overcome the negative.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am blessed to have to best of both worlds, my best friends happen to be my family. We actually created a restaurant/bar bucket list. Our latest visit was the Mayawell Bar in the Birmingham metro area. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. Great drinks and lots of laughter.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, God. I have everything I need to be successful because of our creator. I am forever grateful.

My family, and friends who became family, I could never thank them enough to the immense amount of love and support you have given me through my many ventures.

All that I do, am and aspire to be is dedicated to my carbon copy, Mia Armani. It is vital to me that she can see that any dream she has can be achieved and let her creativity have no limits. Only a path that will lead her to a life of fulfillment. I love you with all I am.
