We had the good fortune of connecting with Nay Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nay, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since a little girl, I’ve always loved shoes. By the time I was 25 years old, I owned more than 100 pair. My friends and family always knew where they could find a nice shoe to borrow for any occasion. May of 2019, I began preparing to find the perfect wedding shoe, I then noticed all the shoes were either comfortable, yet not appealing or they were 5 inches or higher, but were show stopping. I then realized there weren’t any shoe companies that provided Cute, Comfy and Classy Shoes. That’s when I decided I would create Beyoushoetique. A ladies shoe company that only provides shoes that are Cute, yet 4 inches or lower.
What should our readers know about your business?
My company stands out from other shoe companies because ALL of my shoes are CuteComfyClassy. You don’t have to compromise comfort, while being stylish. Starting my company took me 6 months. I wanted to provide quality to customers. It took me a while to find cute, comfortable and quality shoes. I lost a bit of money purchasing sample shoes, while searching for shoes I would be pleased to provide to me future customers. I’ve learned that sometimes things may take longer, when your priority is to only provide quality products. I’ve received so much support from girl bosses all over the world. I love networking and supporting other bosses. 5% of Beyoushoetique earnings are donated to charity and supporting the less fortunate.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would first take them to Pappaudaux Seafood Kitchen. I was born in New Orleans and it’s the closest thing to Nola food. We would then visit Suite Food Lounge, have cocktails and check out their rooftop area. I love to work out, so we would have to go Fearless Athletics for a work out class. We would end our week by going to Garden Parc for Sunday Brunch.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my little sister Myra J. She is a celebrity chef and has been an entrepreneur for 5 years. She used her years of experience to assist me in starting my business. She’s motivated and guided me every step of the way. Thank you Sis, I appreciate you so much.
