We had the good fortune of connecting with Natsuko Darrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natsuko, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always been a creative and an artistic person since I was a child. It has been a great way for me to free my mind and be at peace even if it’s just for a moment. Art also helps me grow in different areas of my life like patience, attention to details, and motivation. So when you find something you love to do and helps you grow…. It’s a win. It’s important to pursue what makes you happy, and for me, this is it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets my art apart is it’s created by me. Everyone has their own unique style that makes them….. them. What I create, design or make is the process of what is visually pleasing to me and I can only hope others like what they see.

It takes a lot to get anywhere you really want to be. It’s by far easy, everyday is a challenge. Overcoming those challenges take mental discipline and constantly motivating yourself to keep going through the challenges. I believe in what J.Cole said “beauty in the struggle”, because once I overcome any challenge it’s a proud moment to look back and really appreciate everything I been through to make me who I am today.

I want people to know that you can do anything you set your mind to. Giving up only makes things harder and keep pushing for what you love to do. Life is full of challenges and it’s when you persevere.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my friend visits me I would definitely take them to Ponce City Market and Krog Street. Both are cute places to shop, get food and drinks. Holiday Bar located in West Midtown is cute outside bar with great crafted cocktails.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My best friend Nicole aka Nicochan. She has been the most supportive person in my life. Mentally & emotionally she has been pushing me to be my best even when I don’t feel like it. Full of positivity and light. Thank you to her and my family for everything they do for me and my son.
