We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathon Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process when creating Rebel Bred was to design a brand that could impact the youth and people of all ages in positive manner. I wanted the brand to not only be fashionable but to carry principles behind the brand that could elevate and challenge ones mindset. If we want to elevate as a society in general then it is important to create brands that push you to think . That is what Rebel Bred is intended to do. Our motto is to educate, uplift, and inspire others to chase their dreams and find their purpose.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is very unique within the clothing industry. It’s based off of streetwear but has elements of luxury and athletic leisure. I draw inspiration from history, spirituality, and personal growth that sets me apart from other designer who may focus solely on the garment. My art is based off my mood at times, sometimes it’s colorful and other times it is monotone and camouflaged. I got to where I am today by being determined, purposeful, and putting out great energy into the atmosphere. No, it was very hard and I believe it’ll be even more difficult to take it to the next level, the only difference is now I have the experience and tools I need to achieve every goal I have in front. I overcame challenges through prayer and having great people surrounding me, through each phase. Lessons I learned are to think big, be detailed, set clear goals, reach out for help, and there aren’t failures in life, just lessons for more growth. I want the world to know that Rebel Bred is a special brand touched by God and soon to touch the world. Our best days are ahead of us, I’m looking forward to the next phases of Rebel Bred.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Pittsburgh, it’s more of a city for families. If you are in Pittsburgh in the fall, check out a Steelers game. We have some really good restaurants. Go to Homewood and get some showcase bbq, go to 876 island spice and get some jamaican food. For fine dining check out Eddie Merlot’s or Morton’s Steakhouse. Hit the strip district up on a Saturday morning and by some food and souvenirs. Check out Mt. Washington at night. Club wise. the best clubs are in the past. There are some dope jazz lounges downtown though, check one of those out at night and enjoy yourself. You can’t go wrong with Ross Park Mall either.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many shout outs to give out, let’s start with a few.
