We had the good fortune of connecting with Nate Haas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nate, what is the most important factor behind your success?
“The most important factor behind my success is undoubtedly my resilience and consistency. Life is full of unexpected challenges and setbacks, but I have always believed in the power of perseverance. No matter how many curveballs are thrown my way, I make a conscious effort to get back up, learn from the experience, and keep pushing forward towards my goals. It is this unwavering determination and commitment to overcoming obstacles that has allowed me to achieve success in both my personal and professional endeavors.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well as you can tell by now, I’m a Director and cinematographer. I shoot a lot of music videos in and around Detroit and other states for big artists. I’ve recently been moving into a more corporate side of production. Working with different companies, and building their presence through film. I’d say what makes me different is the fact that I’m self tought, and I love what I do. Funny story how I got started but a long time friend and muralist out of Detroit, Tony Lee had an art gallery called “Hidden Gate Gallery” and one day he asked me to catch clips of an event he threw. Never shot a video, edited one or had any idea of what composition, framing or anything was. But I shit a promo on my phone and. He rest was story! To get to where I was wasn’t easy at all. I had to over come a lot of fears, self doubt, and “lack of skills” and knowledge when comparing to others in the field. But that’s what makes me so excited. That everyday I move forward, every day I learn something everyday I teach someone who’s in my position who might not have the resources. I’ve learned so many lessons, and still am. I’d say my biggest advice is what helped me is staying humble and finding ways to keep motivated. What do I want the world to know about my brand? I’d have to say is that we’re forever growing and learning, staying true to the true creative spirit in that nothing is impossible. I work with and always have been an under dog. But o feel that’s what makes us so great!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Man if I had someone fly in and I had to show them around, first place I’m taking them is Supinos. Hands down my favorite pizza place. Any night at jewels of Detroit in Highland Park is always a great time! We’d have to stop at Bad Luck Bar for drinks. My favorite speak easy on the city for sure. I love being downtown, there are so many different types of people and activities to get into for real I’d fill this whole page up😭
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well to be honest it wouldn’t be right if I only said one person. There’s so many people that have helped guide me, mentor me or even just our brief interactions have all helped me in ways.
