We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Everyone has a different idea of what success looks like. For some, it’s a certain amount of money in their bank account or a specific accomplishment, but for me, success has more to do with how I FEEL as a person as a whole. To me, success is about being in alignment in your life and work and having a sense of contentment (not to be confused with complacency – they’re two different things). In order to really get to this point, I’ve personally had to act out of a lot of intention. So often, we get consumed by what other people are doing and feel like we need to do those things too, but when we fall victim to that, we lose sight of what’s authentic to us. A huge value in my business is intentionality, which means that I never do something “just because.” There’s always a ton of thought and reasoning behind every decision and I really believe that’s what has allowed me to experience success in my own life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Natty Writes first launched in September of 2022 with little to no direction. I had an *idea* for how I wanted the business to look, but I really didn’t know how to make it happen. Prior to jumping into the world of entrepreneurship, I had always been in the world of marketing and I knew I was capable of a lot of different things, but wasn’t sure how to turn those skills into a real business with real clients. But I knew one thing – I wouldn’t figure it out unless I just TRIED something. Even if it was the wrong thing, that action would provide clarity. So, that’s what I did. After quitting my job in Spring of 2022 with absolutely no backup plan, I set out to be a freelance blog and email writer and I’ll never forget that season of life. I DIY’ed a website and created a service guide and set out to cold pitch a few people that seemed like dream clients. Of course, I was met with a lot of “no’s.” But when I got that first “yes,” it was the fuel that I needed to keep going and start marketing online even if I didn’t feel totally “legit” yet. Three months later, I had a full done-for-you client load, exceeded my previous salary, and had more clarity than ever before. Now, heading into 2024, I still have a full done-for-you client load, have an ever growing audience that feels like a true community, and have various service offerings for others to choose from! Looking back, I’m so thankful that I didn’t wait until I had all the answers to start – clarity is always found in the action and I really am proof of that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in North Georgia, so venturing to the city is always fun for me too!

If I were to plan an itinerary for a friend coming to town, I would plan the majority of our to-do’s around Ponce City Market!

STAY: Hotel Clermont (any type of boutique hotel is my kind of place – they have the BEST photo ops and those of course can’t be missed)

PLAY: The Roof at Ponce City Market, Putt Shack and The Painted Pin

SNACK: Pancake Social (Brunch), Two Urban Licks (Dinner), Five Daughters Bakery (Donuts)

SIP: Ladybird, New Realm Brewery and 9 Mile Station

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My sister, Whitney Timmers, has been the person that I look up to all of my life. She’s the first person in my life who really demonstrated what it looked like to pave your own way and create the life that you dream of. I’ve watched her explore various careers and entrepreneurial endeavors and I’ve always admired how she doesn’t lose her true self through any of it. She remains true to who she is, doesn’t dim her light, and shows up with full confidence in any circumstance – and that’s how I strive to be!
