We had the good fortune of connecting with Nasha Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nasha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I came into this industry very co-dependent on being apart of established entertainment companies and media giants, I just wanted to get my foot in the door and belong. It was through my many internships I realized all I needed was myself. I soon learned everything was a transferable skill set. The amount of energy I was putting into these companies I could’ve started my own, so I did. There was a lot of trial and error and I learned success is anything but linear. I’ve learned to become self sufficient and allow my steadfastness and integrity to lead the way and from that Nasha Clark, Inc. was born. My roster includes, Queen Naija, Support Black Colleges and others. As well as former clients, the McClure Twins. I think millennials are changing the tide of the importance of ownership. Betting on myself and taking risks has changed my life and put me in position to achieve things before my 30’s I’ve only dreamt of.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m most proud that my business is 100% reflective of who I am and my journey throughout the industry. It was birthed out of believing in myself and capabilities as a business woman which at first was extremely intimidating. I never thought I’d play significant roles and broker major deals in my 20’s but here we are. I’m proud that I didn’t give up even when it felt impossible. My brand is a brand of integrity and I pride myself on that everyday. I won’t take on a client or attach my name to something that comprises my moral compass.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from the best city on earth so planning a fun day in New York City would be easy. Mid-town is my favorite there’s always lots to do and great restaurants. One of my favorite spas is in Jersey so we’d have to visit Sojo for sure! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom! My resilience comes from her. Seeing her raise two kids as a single parent really taught me about integrity, commitment and being a person of your word. I attribute a lot of my success to her and her sacrifices.
