We had the good fortune of connecting with Narcisa Maura and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Narcisa, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
Sarah Jakes “Don’t Settle For Safe” is a book that I turn to over and over again. This book challenged me to dig deep and work on the inner parts of me. In this book Sarah Jakes shares her testimony of overcoming the challenges in her own life. Reading about how she did the necessary work pushed me to do the same. We all run towards the “safe” route but if we truly challenge and trust ourselves we can overcome and be bold! I desire to live outside of my comfort zone and constantly push myself to be better. Picking up this book after my divorce changed the very course of my life and where I was headed. I’m forever grateful for Sarah Jakes pouring her heart and soul out in this book.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My life is my art. making a choice to share my world in my blog and on social media takes strength. A strength many don’t acknowledge or even notice. It’s the way I string together my life in pictures and words, it’s the way I inspire others when I need inspiring, but most of all it’s the way I’m open and excited about this journey called life. That’s what sets me apart my desire to continually make a choice to grow and glow. That’s my motto and it’s truly what helped me get through my darkest hours. Despite the challenges of life I’m having fun sharing one post at a time. My growth is organic and my voice is unique. I’ve learned so many lessons in this creative world but most of all it’s to be true to who you are. In a world where everyone is sharing something online it’s important to not compare but own your light. I am my brand and my brand is me a woman who choose to Grow and Glow through life one moment at a time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friends come here’s what I have in store: Breakfast at Miller all Day then a walk downtown Charleston to see the famous pineapple fountain and of course shopping on King street. Lunch at Sesame Burgers and Beer in Park circle then off to riverfront park to see the sights. After all that walking we’d get a nice massage at Escape Haven & Co. Dinner at Halls Nexton followed by an evening at Blue Note Bistro for some live music and dancing.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am today without my community of family and friends. First off my parents who instilled faith, love, and forgiveness into my life. My parents showed me that genuine love and forgiveness takes us further than we could ever imagine. I’m no saint but living a life of forgiveness has allowed me so many opportunities to move forward in my darkest. hour. Next up my siblings who always show me how to keep it real. They’ve taught me how to not only forgive and walk in. love but to be okay with saying no. My best friends Ashley and Charisse are my rocks who always have my back no matter what. We are a dynamic trio. It’s been 30 plus years of us rocking together and we won’t stop now. My church family for supporting me and praying with me in times of need. Finally my blogger sisters who allow me to be my most creative self and keep pushing out amazing content. There are no limits to what you can do when you have a strong support system,
