We had the good fortune of connecting with Naomi. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naomi., what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has played a huge role in my life and career, and I believe risk is necessary for growth. In my experience, sometimes the ideas that feel the most scary are the ones that have the greatest reward. Staying in my comfort zone has always kept me feeling too comfortable and complacent; taking risks has always either given me greater perspective or brought me great opportunities and results.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well to start off, hi, my name is Naomi. and I’m a musician, model and content creator based in Atlanta, GA. My number one love is music, my music is a reflection of my soul and is the most natural way for me to express myself creatively. Growing up in South Florida, I always knew that I was different, and concerts were the only place where I felt completely, 100% my authentic self. I moved to Atlanta alone at the age of 19 to go to music school and start my career in music. There I fell in love with the independent artist scene and met so many amazing, inspiring musicians. Fast-forward to now, as an artist my vision is to create music that cultivates a community of people who feel seen and accepted. I also have a passion for visual art and telling stories through fashion, aesthetics and makeup. I believe what sets me apart from other artists is that I have a unique sound and look. Sonically, I take a lot of inspiration from pop, house, vogue, electro-pop, and r&b genres; I like to produce tracks that are genre-bending and dynamic. Aesthetically, I really love bold makeup and I’m known for my dramatic eyebrows, I also love avant-garde, futuristic clothing. Some of my favorite artists right now are PinkPantheress and Magdalena Bay, I take a lot of inspiration from their music and overall vibe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever I have family or friends come visit Atlanta, there are definitely some places that I absolutely have to have them visit. I always take people to my favorite coffee shop over in Reynoldstown called Muchacho, they serve coffee and breakfast tacos, and the vibe is great. For brunch, my go-to spot is Petit Chou, they have delicious, fresh food and they source from local suppliers so I know I’m always going to have a nice experience. After brunch, I’ll usually take people for a walk on the Eastside Beltline trail and then we’ll stop off at Ponce City Market for some ramen at my favorite ramen bar, Ton Ton. Then, after lunch we could stop by the High Museum and check out the current art display (or whatever else touristy things they would wanna do) and then that night grab some drinks at Revery VR Bar!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I genuinely know and believe that I would not be where I am right now without my family and my partner Jackson. I have the most wonderful support system that I could ever ask for and I am so eternally grateful to have them in my life. Their love and encouragement has gotten me through so many difficult moments. Whether it be self-doubt, rejection, or major life events (like a global pandemic) they keep me grounded. I’m a firm believer that mental health can shape your entire life, and that’s why it’s so important for me to have people around me that believe in me and affirm my visions and goals. Another great resource for success is books; a book that I’m reading right now that has been really helpful is It’s All In Your Head by Russ. It’s essential to fill your mind with positive affirmations and healthy thought patterns in order to maintain morale.
