We had the good fortune of connecting with Nana Nkrumah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The Thought process behind staring my own business was passion & legacy. As a ICU registered Nurse, COVID burnt me out, I witnessed so much death that I just wasn’t happy being a nurse anymore. So with prayer and guidance I decided to follow my passion, which is floral and event design!
What should our readers know about your business?
The Shalom Experience is a luxury Floral and event design business. We specialize in bespoke, anomalous floral designs that can not be imitated anywhere! Shalom means peace in Hebrew and that is exactly what our clients’ experiences will be with us, peaceful. What sets us apart is the passion that we put into each design & the peaceful interactions we will have with our clients. I am super excited for 2023, it has been deemed the year of acceleration by my pastor and i receive it. I am excited to meet new people and make their visions come to life and exceed their expectations.
My business is where it is today only by the grace of God and wherever it goes it will be grace. I wouldn’t say it has been easy, I still work as an Icu rn, I am a wife and mother to five beautiful children. Balancing my time has been interesting but we make it work! I learned that prioritizing and keeping a tight schedule works best for me.
I want people to know that The Shalom Experience is for all people and our intentions are the same for everyone, Love , peace and joy!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, (which she does often lol), I would take her to breakfast at “Toast on Lenox” first because girls love brunch. After that we would probably go shopping at phipps plaza, then head to the skyline park at Ponce City Market. After that, knowing us, we will probably go get our makeup done and have dinner in Buckhead somewhere. We like to eat and get pretty lol.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. HE has kept me through everything. My husband Yaw Nkrumah is my number one fan and he supports me through everything even when it sounds crazy. Last but not least my beautiful children give me the drive and the motivation to be better.
