We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakia Linson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nakia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work balance has made a full 360. There was a point in time where I was working long unhealthy and extreme hours that were causing me stress, unbalance and dissatisfaction. It was a horrible period in my life, and for me, that was the key turning point. You feel resentful and bitter that something that isn’t fundamentally important is snatching so much valuable time away from you! The work I do now has changed my life for the better in every area of my life! I absolutely enjoy helping other busy women find purpose in balance in their lives. It has given me a new look on how life is supposed to be, deeper connections within myself and the others around me. I believe having overall balance is the key to any success. Often times, people believe being “booked & busy” is the ultimate thing to do but in actuality, It’s the opposite! Balance in all areas of our lives is IDEAL. Whether its Mentally, Emotionally, Physically and Spiritually.

The path to being the best version of myself began in March of 2016. Prior, I was an injury plagued post-collegiate track and field athlete looking for a way to fill a void of not completing my lifetime dream of being a track and field Olympian. I was struggling with depression and was so stressed out that I did not take care of my health from unhealthy relationships, under-eating, overworking myself, and overindulging in unhealthy foods when I did get a chance to eat. It wasn’t until I had a heart to heart conversation with my late mother about how small I’ve gotten. At that very moment, I knew I had to make a change within. I decided to take action by spending most of my time exercising throughout the week and choosing more quality food choices. It was a challenge, but I stuck to it and stayed consistent. Those countless day of exercise and quality eating became apart of me. My health and confidence skyrocketed, both physically and mentally. In August of 2019, My life changed completely for the better. I was blessed to be a mom of a beautiful baby boy. During my pregnancy, and I gained a total of 75 pounds. Again, I was devastated because I’ve never been 0ver 125 pounds and there I was standing at 192 Pounds. Throughout my pregnancy I was determined to drop some that weight, so once again, I went hard for several months all through making the choice to become a better me. Taking action, staying consistent, and fully committing to My Best Self! Now all I care to do is share my journey and experience with the other busy women.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first place I would take my friend to is my favorite frozen margarita spots: Red Pepper Taqueria in Brookhaven and Mama’s Cocina Latina in Buckhead. of course we will visit the Beltline and Georgia Aquarium
