Meet Nakia Creel | Writer, Author and Publisher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakia Creel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nakia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I first started writing I just wanted to tell great stories, when it was time to do my second book I realized I wanted to learn the process of publishing a book from start to finish, as well as help other artist find their footing in their personal journey. There is so much raw talent and so many people that thrive on taking advantage of individuals that are unfamiliar with the entire writing process.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Creel Publishing is focused on cultivation, encouragement, and support of authors and writers. It is my goal to build a strong team of writers for books, television and movies. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am not only looking to make my presence know in the industry, I want to bring others with me, I remember hearing Curtis 50cent Jackson say that “a good show is never written by one person”, I am taking that into account when working on my new project. I am excited about the latest book that I wrote and is currently available for sale called “Rising From The Ashes”. But I am most excited about the new project I am currently working on, a TV mini series that I hope to have completed by the summer. Along this journey I have learned the it is never ok to give up. A stumbling block might be a pause, but it is never a stop, and validation is for cars not people, hard work and integrity are necessary to persevere. My company Creel Publishing is on the rise, I want writers that are unsure or struggling to find their voice to know they have someone that can reach out to for help or assistance. We are still looking for talented artist to work with.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town I would start the morning with Breakfast at Barney’s, do a little shopping at Phipps Plaza, then have lunch and a few drinks at Bar Vegan in Ponce City Market. Altho Atlanta has a lot of things to do, outside of being onset for filming and attending fashion show related events I don’t get out from behind this computer as much as I would like too. Hopefully that will change in the next year.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout Taylor Dawson, the publisher of my first book “Ashes”, she was so amazing and patient with me, but more importantly she was extremely encouraging to me. The love and support even to this day is amazing. I also have developed a wonderful family here in Atlanta that consist of prominent business women that support me and push me to stand on business. Valerie (Clay Model Academy) Aneesah (Pretty Cakes ATL), Kenisha (Tiny Hands child care academy), Arthena (Pink Flamingo Smoothies) and so many other women as well, I want to be that same kind of blessing and encouragement to someone else.
