We had the good fortune of connecting with Naija Austin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naija, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Owning that I am an independent artist, I write and produce all my music inside my room as it’s a safe-creativie space to express what I’ve went through and overcame as a person.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The music that I write always tells a witty story of who I was and what I went through. I often incorporate different sounds such as trap-pop or melodic rap but as of now, I am fascinated with a dark fantasy feel as it’s the way my soul feels inside. When I’m writing lyrics, I’m completely reliving my story to express what exactly I felt or still feel. I can be anywhere around the house, in my car, outside, or at social events and come up with a melody and jot it down to record later. I have my own studio I set up in my room to record my current songs and upcoming. With the help of my parents, I was able to license my business: diamondbaeproductions and own the rights to my music. It wasn’t all so easy… we figured out the steps along the way for it to become a smoother process for me to upload and release music. A big lesson I’ve learned is to have faith and trust the process for a favorable outcome. I’ve learned to work hard and not give up especially when I’m not feeling confident or as passionate in my craft. I’m excited about new music I have in store and wanting to branch out and try different and unique things from a creative perspective.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My go to spot in ATL is by Krog Street Tunnel. It’s a chill spot to parade around and see all the unique things Atlanta has to offer. I live more north of Georgia and visit ATL every now and then. Near me I love to have a taco or two at strange taco bar to enjoy their vegetarian friendly options. I also love a good Korean BBQ and 985 never lets me down! I’m always full and enjoy their vegetarian options as well! I have a good time by being out and about in the city, exploring places I’ve never been like historical monuments, and cherishing the moment with friends and family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to express gratitude to my family members who have supported my dreams since my first debuting single WANABE. Including close friends who have supported and gave me more confidence to push myself further as an independent artist.
