We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadine Norvelus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadine, how do you think about risk?
In the past I used to think about risks in a fearful way. Today, I see risks as an opportunity. Taking risks has helped me tremendously in my life/career. I took a risk going to nursing school, then taking my boards and after failing, I took one last risk that placed me where I am today. In a much better place and in a new city, happier than ever.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Im originally from Orlando, FL born and raised in a Haitian-American household. My family always instilled in me that education was my top priority to becoming someone in life. I graduated from Evans HS in Pine Hills and ventured off to Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2021. I took my NCLEX-RN maybe 3-4 times and recently passed this last year. What sets me aside is my determination, my drive for success and my strength to overcome any obstacle that is sent to destroy me. It was far from easy! Some days I cried, I felt like a failure and some days I was motivated, content and ready to re-test. Many people are ashamed to say they failed but I know the plans God has for me is to embrace my story, so that I can help motivate someone else who has given up or have thoughts of giving up to see there is light at the end of the tunnel. God is with you every step of the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I recently just moved to Atlanta, Ga in late April. I have not gone out much BUT I would recommend Houston’s in Buckhead the food, the drinks and the service was amazing. Boogalou was also a vibeeee the drinks and the people around was like a breath of fresh air! I would also try out The Third Spot, I personally never been but I heard it is a fun place for adults to enjoy.. especially for a date night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to my mom. My mom has ALWAYS supported me in everything I’ve always wanted to accomplish. She is my backbone, my rock, my #1 supporter, literally my everything. She is my role model and most importantly my best-friend.
