We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadiah Cunningham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nadiah, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
Starting my own Teeth Whitening business have enlightened me on what I want my career to look like after graduating college. In December, I will be graduating college with my bachelors in biology. With that degree, I will be going to dental school to pursue my career in Cosmetic Dentistry. After graduating from Dental School, I envision taking Polished Smiles to another level. Instead of offering just Teeth Whitening services, I will be offering other Cosmetic procedures, specifically dental veneers. Polished Smiles with have multiple locations across the United States.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Being an entrepreneur is NOT easy. You will have really good days and then you will have really bad days, or even months. When those bad times come around, I used to get really upset , doubt myself, and contemplate on giving up on my business. I am beyond proud that I didn’t let those bad days ruin what God have in store for me and quit on myself. After being a entrepreneur for 3 years now , I have came into a realization that entrepreneurship is a roller coaster. Instead of doubting myself on my bad days, I reflect. I appreciate those days because I am able to sit back and strategically plan out how I can make the next month better than the current.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Because summer is quickly approaching, I would take my best friend somewhere that has a good outdoor scenery , specifically Ponce City Market. Ponce City Market is one of the coolest tourist attractions because they have so much to offer. You can walk around and shop , try different foods and drinks. Additionally , we are able to go to the rooftop of the market to get some incredible views of the Atlanta skyline.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a special shout-out to my friends , families , and clients. I can honestly say that without these group of people, I would have not made it this far with my business. My friends and family have been my back bone since I thought about starting “Polished Smiles ” . They have motivated me on multiple occasions when I’m feeling down and ready to give up , stayed on the phone for hours while listening to my new business ideas , giving me constructive criticism, always promoting my business when I’m not around , and so much more. Additionally, I want to thank my clients for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to boost their confidence by enhancing their smiles.
